Dominican-born recording artiste performs on island for the first time

Francis

Dominican-born international recording artiste Heston Francis performed for the first time in Dominica this weekend at the finals of Q95 Talent Search.

Francis, who had not been to Dominica for 25 years until last week, described his experience back and his opportunity to perform for Dominicans as beautiful and better than any achievement has had.

Francis said, “Dominica is beautiful. The experience is really indescribable. It’s different and better than anything. I’ve accomplished quite a bit, but when I got my first airplay on Dominican radio, it was the proudest musical moment for me. So, now being here, I still haven’t registered it but the experience is amazing and I can’t really describe it, but it’s unlike anything I’ve done. The love from Dominicans, the opportunity to be able to perform for people that I know and love and have a major relationship with is just indescribable.”

Of QTS and its performers he stated, “There’s a lot of music here, there’s a lot of passion here and there’s a lot of commitment to music and the platform to be able to express that is vital. So, I think Q95, Sheridon Gregroire and QTS have locked on to something that the kids here need and I can only imagine it continuing to grow.”

2010 QTS Winner Asher Thomas had mused during the show that he would love to see a collaboration with Francis and his reply after the show was that he was always willing to work with other artistes.

“I’m open to anything, as far as working with other artistes. It’s always something that expands your horizon and teaches you different things about yourself. I’m open to working with anybody who takes their work seriously,” Francis stated.
He concluded, “I know I’ll be back soon and it’s not gonna be 2.5 year and it certainly wont be 25 years. Y’all are gonna get tired of me.”

Francis has had many laurels in his career including three weeks at the top of the UK charts and a BET-J Virtual Award for Best Underground Artist.

“to perform for people that I know and love and have a major relationship with.” Bro with all due respect, after 25 years, I don’t think you know or can even remember much people much less to have a major relationship with them. I’m just keeping it real. Anywayz all the best to you.

YOU DAMN IGNORANT FOOL,U ARE A RASS FOR REAL. DO YOU KNOW THE REASON THE MAN TOOK SO LONG BEFOR COMING HOME? THERE ARE MANY CIRCUMSTANCES WHY A LOT OF PEOPLE STAY FROM DOMINICA WHICH THEY ARE IN NO CONTROL OF. I AM AWAY FROM HOME FOR 11YRS AND WOULD REALLY LIKE TO VISIT BUT DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES I WILL NOT MENTION I AM NOT ABLE TO COME HOME.I CAN AFFORD MORE THAN ONE TICKET,AND FOR SURE I AM SAVING MY MONEY IN DOMINICA.THERE IS NOT ONE DAY THAT I DO NOT THINK ABOUT MY COUNTRY.SO STOP THE BULLSH….T AND THE NEGATIVE TALK.THIS IS THE TIME THE MAN COULD COME AFTER 25YRS,SO WELCOME THE SON OF THE SOIL.YOU CAN TAKE A MAN OUT OF DOMINICA,BUT NOT TAKE DOMINICA AWAY FROM HIM.ENJOY YOUR COUNTRY BRO.
