There is an unauthorized attempt circulated on a social network giving the impression that there will be an EXILE ONE REUNION at the 14th edition of the World Creole Music Festival and to compound this misinformation there is an exaggerated move at creating a mischievous campaign to justify the presence of persons who were not employed to perform with the group on October 31.
The management of the group EXILE ONE makes it known that no contract was signed with the DFC for any REUNION. The group has never ceased performing!
“At first, I was flattered to know that there was an initiative to try some kind of Exile One reunion on Face Book, I in fact joined the membership”, says Gordon Henderson leader of Exile One, “but after a few exchanges with one of the creators, I soon realized that he didn’t know that Alex “Sty” La Rocque one of the early drummers was unavailable because of contractual reasons, and most of all he does not know what Exile One is. He thinks it’s some kind of membership club with lifetime entitlements”.
“The DFC was in contact with Exile One before the campaign was launched, but the contract was not yet signed”, continues Henderson, “so some consideration was given to the idea of bringing a few early musicians on stage but the final contract was for Exile One, no reunion”.
The group Exile One was founded in Guadeloupe in 1973 on the invitation of Gordon Henderson who lived in that country at the time. The group comprised mainly Dominicans but has always embraced other nationalities such as Antillean, French, Cuban,Brazilian and Trinidadian. Like every other group of its kind, many musicians have come and gone, but the core players have resisted.
When in 1993 the group celebrated its 20th anniversary with the album “Twenty Twenty” the cover picture then already featured theExile One of the time: Fitzroy Williams, Vivian Wallace and Gordon Henderson. Strangely, the picture used on the reunion social club if it is still on is of those three. The much celebrated album “Fraiche” is also the core trio with a roster of musicians.
Some persons who performed with Exile One in the early days have went on to pursue solo careers and have been employed by the DFC in that capacity. The performance on October 31 will not feature solo initiatives; it will feature some of the many hits of the group from the early days to today by the Exile One operating as such for over twenty years.
“If the only Swinging Stars, Exile One or even Triple Kay which is a baby group in terms of age that you can accept, must be composed of particular persons dating back to the first days, then we have a lot of work ahead…” concludes Henderson, “don’t be tricked into this, there must be other motives…Come with an open mind and discover Exile One.”

Dominica has produced great muscians and still is. However, a marjority of the talented ones never like to past on the tourch. They feel like the person that they are teaching will some day become better than him or her. They will be always someone better and someone better to come. This is how the Almighty set up his world, and man cannot change that. I have seen in the outter world that bands put their differences a side and come together for a reunion just for the love of music and the people. We dominicans seems to hold a life time grudge and bad feelings toward one another. This is what is bringing down our country. Never like to see another man strive. We want all the glory for ourself.
It was bad on Gordon part for not mention Julie. It is plain to see that is where the conflicts rest.
Exile One always in a controversy- maybe just exile them?
Boy all you interesting we! Where all dis ego talk come from? Where you see de group with ego issues? Where and when?
Let’s face it, people who excell in certain walks of life usually have big egos. Be it music, sports, the theatre. When people are constantly looking up to you and telling you how good you are, especially when you are young, it gets to your head.
Having said that, as adults, these guys need to determine whether they can set aside their egos for the better good. It takes a certain level of maturity to do that.
I was reading somewhere (some time ago) that the band members of THE WHO have no time for each other outside the stage, but as a casual bystander you would never know that. They know enough to put their egos and emotions aside and let their professionalism take centre stage. Perhaps our musicians should take a page out of their books.

Lost in the state, or existence of humanity? Yes, but not for all 36 years of living in Toronto. I came out from my state of lost–the state of death in Dominica– to find myself in the state of Life, here in Toronto. This happened for me twenty years ago. So now that I am found, I am going to retrun to present myself, and the Life of Love, to my people in Dominica.
However, Exile One, has no significance in that existence of Life, as far as I am personally concerned. That is, if you are saying not knowing anything about Exile One, caused me to exist in a state of lost. Also if you are just joking, I do not see the humor.

You have spoken the Word of God even if you never mentioned the Bible. What you have described, in regards to the attitude of the guys of Exile One, is the reason God had to rebuke and chasten–train and discipline– the attitude and conducts of a man in the Bible, whose name was Job.
You described the same attitude and conducts in those guys of Exile One, as in Job, the way he went on doing good things, and people giving him all the praise and honor, as if they worshiped him, a demonstration that only belongs to God’s Love and Holiness. Job talks that truth about himself at Job, Chapter 29, in the Holy Bible
The reason for God’s rebuke and chastening in Job’s Life, was because he went on to accept those people’s praise and honor for himself. That is what Satan causes people to do, as he leads them into the existence of defeat. You are right on! So I need to let you know that God sent a message of Life through you, to the group of Exile One.
I knew about Exile One, who came into existence just before I left Dominica, which was 36 years agao. And I lost track of them from then on. So I really do not know anything about them, except for what I just read in this article. But I hope that they will take heed of the message you sent them.

talk about being an example to a younger generation…..at this time of your lives you guys should be able to put aside you differences and marketed yourselves alot better than you did 20 years ago. But the fighting and backbiting continues. Damm. Dominicans will this issssh ever stop?

The biggest problem that we have been having with Dominican Musicians are their ego’s. And trust me when i say that , its because i have seen it all. When God give you that talent and you star getting noticed by the public , what happens is people start believing in you and what you do, They start to love you like they know you for a very long time. My friends i love my fans and that’s why you see me on facebook, Dominica diaspora , and a few more. Dominican musicians do not put mighty Father first, its all about who badder or better who !!!! The same little boy talk , instead of working with the very young kids that would like to be like them. I have been miss used by many of these kind of Dominican Musicians so that they can get the spost light all the time . Music is all about love, yes its business, true 10 percent is the music and 90 percent is the business. But my friends we are Dominicans and most of our talent is over sea’s and it would be the grestest thing to see the brothers again. I’m very very sad to see still in 2010 some of these so called Musician are still on their high horse. I pray that this will change soon. One of the Biggest Fans of Exile One and still is !!!!!!!!! Gordon, pl note there are dominicand in north america who would like to experience the real music of dominica originally from exile one, the group presence is long overdue, it was in 2006 or 07 when we last herd u guys. THANK YOU FOR THAT LONG AWAITED TREAT.

I knew more than what Gordon think I know so now he’s on the defense,I’m not trying to create animosity ,Does it change the fact Julie a founding member is not included?Good luck and let’s pray it all goes well.
