It is official.
Four well-known calypsonians will not be participating in the 2014 Calypso Competition.
On Friday officials at the Dominica Calypso Association confirmed that Electra, Scrunter, Karessa and Rachel have informed them that they are unable to compete in the Quarter Finals slated for Saturday night.
Since they are unable to compete in that leg of the calypso competition, they are out for the entire season.
DNO was told that Scrunter is out of state while Rachel will also be away on what has been described as “work related matters.”
Karessa is presently in Australia on educational endeavors and won’t be able to compete.
Electra told DNO that she had no particular reason for not competing in the event but pointed out, “I had some other obligations, so I had no time to prepare for the competition.”
However her message to her fans and friends is that she will “hopefully” be returning next year.
This development opens the door for reserve calypsonians from the elimination round to compete in the Quarter Finals.
They are Jay Dee, Alisha, Sugar S and the Mighty Picky.
The Quarter Finals of the competition will be held at the Newtown Savannah.

Picky can win the crown this year all he needs is a second song this year. I even heard that he has a bomb of a second song that will/might be sent to him via his writer ( imagine dat ) in a few weeks time.

There is nothing new about Dice, his lyrics are always political. Enough of that already. Show some versatility so that he can move into the regional and internet arena. Beside his good vocals, it’s redundant. Really time for a change move on from the dice.
