Government reiterates commitment to national festivals

Darroux

Acting Tourism and Legal Affairs Minister Kelver Darroux says despite the global financial meltdown, government is working to ensure that national festivals are sustained on an annual basis.

Darroux says despite financial constraints, government will continue to seek the mean to deliver the level of human and financial resources to propel the Dominica Festivals Commission to higher levels.

He was addressing the prize giving ceremony of the Carnival Development Committee and the Dominica Festivals Commission at the Arawak House of Culture last night.

“We recognize the true value and the great potential of carnival and other key festivals on the events calendar. We recognize the benefits to be derived from well planned festivals as well. Above all, government recognizes the value of these events to the economy of Dominica,” he said.

According to Darroux, the Ministry of Tourism regards festivals as an important aspect to the sector.

“despite financial constraints, government will continue to seek the mean to deliver the level of human and financial resources to propel the Dominica Festivals Commission to higher levels.” So does that means cutting down on programs for the youth does that mean cutting down on programe to develope the strugling people. Come on why are we seeking to develope Canival etc. while our arts and craft our youth or children need some help with self developement, canival has become a risk for some of our people they have to gamble with their bills in order to partake in these festival we need to take those stand for the development of our people red blue green yellow etc.
