Gregory Rabess and Alick Boyd Knight, Queen Elizabeth visit, Macoucherie, in the 60´s
1966??? I remember the Queen visiting Dominica when I was in St. Martin School and I was born in 1974. I remember we had to sing a song called Bienvenue a Dominique. I must have been about 7/8 years old at the time.
The occasion was march of 1967 when Dominica gained states hood and the venue is the botanical gardens i do not know the dancers.
i think the dancers are Alwin Bully and Anita Bully
There was no Anita Bully in 1960.
Mr. & Mrs. Charles Savarin at Wet Fete in Grandbay…just kidding!!!!!
the man looks like a young Alwin Bully
This bring back great memories!! I man was pon de scene as a student of the the Chatoo Boys School. However, I can’t recall the weather being bright and sunny as depicted in that photo because I got soaked from head to foot! I believe I sought refuge from the rain under the dancing stage in the photo. The things we had to do for a Rough cake and Ju-C!!
Boy, I remember those days. And they used to pour the Ju-C in bath pan to serve us. They did us things wii.
WOW ! I wasn’t born yet. Such a wonderful photo and insight into the history of Dominica. More importantly to see aspects of the development of a great people and the contributions made by great men & women. I salute you Alwin Bully and your dance partner – truly iconic Dominicans.

Thanks for that link..I enjoy watching it. The two dancers are pretty people…..the female dancer kind of look like our last carnival queen leslassa shellingford to me.
Thanks for the link, I had no idea that there was such a record of the visit. As a nine year old, I just about remember the occasion.
Claudette Latigue and Alwin Bully. Queen Elizabeth and Duke of Edinburgh Commonwealth Tour.
I was not born yet, so I wouldn’t know. But my guess in terms of the location is the Botanical Gardens. The occasion is a visit by Princess Margaret??? (just a wild guess)
