Reigning Calypso Monarch Gregory ‘Karessah’ Riviere said he has his eyes on capturing the monarch title for the third consecutive time this year.
Karessah told the official launching of Stardom Tent at the Krazy Kokonuts yesterday that he will release his song ‘One Set of Cutlery’ this week.
“I have already completed one of my songs and I have an appointment to release on Wednesday, my brand new song,” he said.
He said the songs will not only have wit and humor, but it will also have a strong message.
“I know the song will find a place in the hearts of many Dominicans,” he added.
Lyrixs? No body can touch Karessah on lyrix. This man is a master of the arts. Pat definitely has to go back to the drawing board. This is a brilliant composition. It is well mask, full of wit, satire, humor, strong story line, punch lines, hook lines, sweet melody, hot tempo,…..This is the best calypso I have heard in years…Is only a calypso dumb that would attempt to compare karessah’s lyrix with Pat’s own. This calypso has every component of an excellent Calypso. Fouchette in the cabinet… that is the talk in the town… you cannot even have a discussion on dice song… ‘Send Me’ Send him where….. after all this hip hip hooray I coming back…now you reach, you asking us to send you… So come with something else… No current calypsonian can step in Karessah’s shoes when it comes to lyrix. Karessah was king, Karessah is King and Karessah will certainly remain king!

KARESSA shows wisdom in the way he masks his words, uses wit and satire in his songs. A true King with the ability to write and compose his own songs. None could articulate and explain himself like King KARESSA. A real ROLE MODEL. Can the same be said about Dice?
If Dominicans are looking for a role model for the youth to follow and emulate, who would you choose? Speak the truth, be frank to the youth and to yourselves. Who would qualify as the better or best ROLE MODEL for our youth among the many calypsonians today in Dominica. Karessa OF COURSE. If you do not love the man, that is you all choice, but be objective and give the man his praise and Kudos for being one of the best writers of calypso and a unique artist. As the saying goes, ‘Hayi chien mais si dyen blanc di-y blanc,’ Meaning, ‘Hate the animal, the dog, but if its teeth are white say they are white.’
Calypsonians should never renege on their role and mission to tell the stories of society as they see them. The society’s moral values, economy, governance are going down the drain. Corruption is taking over. Crime, violence, bribery, selfishness, greed and disrespect for the laws are crippling our country. Our institutions are being dismantled, manipulated and being influenced by corrupt politicians. So we need the positive songs and voices of the calypsonians and artists, more than ever, to CHANT DOWN those corrupt practices as well as to offer alternative solutions.
This is a wonderful song. U are a talented person. U can speak, u can write, u can sing. Wonderful. That the people we want no no momo that can’t speak english or always in some police problem. We want mentor. No wonder society not going anywhere cause the people we hilight are valueless

I reading some comments there but one thing I can say is that. Every single word in Karessah song is his. He does not have to wait on any writer to give him a song. If a writer on strike Karessah will still sing. SO who is King? Karessah is the real deal, he writes his own songs, something not many can say. Karessah we love you.

ONE SET OF CUTLERY in the cabinet (a China cabinet?). Wonder what the little man has up his sleeves…. or rather in his cabinet draw.
