LIAT responds to demand for regional carnivals and Rihanna concert in Barbados

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, July 30, 2011 – In response to the high demand for travel into Barbados, Antigua, Tortola and Grenada for their upcoming Carnival celebrations and the Rihanna concert in Barbados, LIAT has agreed to increase capacity to/from those destinations to ensure that there is no shortage of seats for travellers.

Corporate Communications Manager Desmond Brown said that LIAT has also offered discounted fares into Barbados for the Rihanna concert. The discounted fares are available at all of LIAT’s booking channels including the airline’s corporate website www.liat.com.

“This is a heavy season for travel with three major regional events overlapping,” Brown said.

“We are constantly monitoring our loads into these destinations and adding capacity where necessary to meet that demand. This is an ongoing process.”

The Corporate Communications Manager also highlighted that LIAT has organised incentives for regional Travel Agents where two of the top agents for the Rihanna concert in Barbados will win an all expenses paid trip to Barbados to attend the event.

“To date we have been receiving very positive feedback from our travel agents on this promotion,” Brown noted.

He said that LIAT has also partnered with telecommunications company LIME to transport eight of its contest winners to Barbados for an all expenses paid trip to see Rihanna in concert.

Liat is a damn joke. Liat doesn’t serve the people they serve them self. When Dominica have Carnival, Creole Fest They don’t increase flights and lower the rates enough. So who Liat fooling? When Antigua and other islands have stuff going on see them now.. Liat start listening to your customers im serious. The next Caribbean Sun and Star on it’s way soon and no one will remember allu. The moment Dominicans get an option we gone. You not treating us right as well as other island. How you gonna want 500-700 USD to fly to PR and flight from PR to the states cheaper than liat… What kind of foolish ting that? Y’al a joke son!!! step up or else.

Yes, increase flights to B/dos and Antigua, theses are the only two Island in the Caribbean who needs money and People. LIAT
will not put DA on for night Landing, because LIAT said, while a they will have a full fight to DA on arrival, they will be leaving DA empty, and that is not proifitable for LIAT, so
DA will have to get their own planes to implentment night Landing papa.

Despite all of its disappointments LIAT has a very low crash rate. You all are always quick to crticise but when was the last time you heard of a LIAT plane crashing as compared to the sophisticated and expensive planes and jets of multi billion dollar companies? What is the reason you would not fly with them at nights? Give LIAT their ctiticism when they deserve it but compliment them when they deserve it too. Their pilots do a good job.

They need to bring her for a future creole festival after all she is from the caribbean…something which i think culd have been done already, I mean think of the crowd Rihanna would draw it would worth the money even if it means taking two less of the crappy bands to pay her.

Wish Liat could have monitored the flights for the India vs WI match in Dominica and done the same for us. Even when there is heightened demand at Creole and Carnival in Dominica, Liat does not increase capacity. I keep wondering why?

700 hotel beds is not economical for liat to increase flights into Dominica. Stop letting the government officials take all u for a ride. Demand an International airport. Forget redclinic and vote them outfor an International Airport

I am only asking for an increase at those peak periods when the demand is there – creole festival, cricket and carnival. And I am quite aware that the demand is there at those times because I travel frequently and for at least a month before those 3 periods, all flights are totally sold out. That should tell Liat something.
