LIME kicks off Summer promotion with Rihanna

Rihanna

Roseau Dominica – July 18, 2011: LIME has upped up the entertainment ante for the summer with its sponsorship of “Rihanna Loud in Barbados” – a partnership between the telecoms company and the Barbados Tourism Authority, which will see the pop superstar performing at the Kensington Oval on August 5.

This will be Rihanna’s first performance in the Caribbean in five years.

The Rihanna sponsorship is a special part of LIME’s Summer Promotion and customers in participating markets across the region can win VIP tickets to the concert, airfare to Barbados, hotel accommodations, and transportation.

“Rihanna’s Caribbean concert is definitely the event of the year because right now she is one of the hottest entertainers on the planet and LIME is extremely proud to present this historic event,” said Grace Silvera, Regional Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Communications.

Adrian Elcock, Chairman of the Barbados Tourism Authority said:  “The BTA is extremely excited to have LIME on board as its corporate partner in delivering the Rihanna show to the people of the Caribbean. LIME is the leading, fully-integrated, communications company in the Region and it has consistently and sincerely demonstrated a commitment to promoting high quality entertainment and developing the culture and arts of the Caribbean.

“We believe that our partnership with Rihanna, demonstrates Barbados’ support for its global superstar, and we want to showcase her amazing talents, at home in Barbados, to the world. As such we know that LIME would make an excellent partner in helping us to communicate that message to the World.”

Within two days of the announcement the organisers sold nearly 25,000 tickets for the event.

Participating territories are Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, the Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, the Turks & Caicos Islands and St. Vincent & the Grenadines. To qualify, LIME customers simply text ‘RIHANNA’ to 5463, purchase a BlackBerry handset from LIME or by signing up for a BlackBerry plan from LIME. The lucky customer will win 2 VIP concert tickets, airfare, accommodation and transportation.

“Rihanna Loud in Barbados” is part of a three-year marketing deal the multi-award winning singer has signed with the Barbados Tourism Authority.

It is very disheartening to read most of the comments on here. There was a similar promo with the winners get a VIP trip to TnT for a concert featuring Beyonce,’and there was not this type of opposition. Why do we hate our own West Indian people? Why do we put others before them? If you’re not a fan, thats cool. If you’re not into hip hop and R&B thats okay too. I can’t understand where this negativity is coming from. She should be looked at as a positive symbol for alot of our local and regional artists wanting to go further withing their craft. She is proof that it can be done.

interesting…their are Men and Boys Women and Girls….

maybe folks here who are critics which is all good need to look at the entertainment industry fully.

Sources revealed that its in the region of USD1,000.000 for Rhianna…

Barbados is definetly a High Ended Caribbean island with over 270,00 in Population alot of industries driven with extremly deep island pride, and certainly not a island who citizens remain in the dark and promote bowing to a illegal PM giving hand outs..haha

Once you are builted around standards and uphold law and protcol you can surely boast off the Big Acts around the Globe.but when citizens of a island settle to remain blind and “boy is so it is wee” what end products you expect….sometimes i wonder if the Commonwealth of Dominica is a unknown planet which the scientist of the world didnt name or slipped through saying its a island of civilise citizens…….wow!!

No pun intended. Does Dominica have summer? I thought it is only those countries with winter, spring, summer and autumn which have summer. Just joking.
I suppose that Dominica has year-round summer. Lucky you!
It would be something strange if Dominica had winter. Get out the winter coats, boots, hats, sweaters, scarves and gloves. This is something to experience
The manner in which the earth is revolving what with global warming, some years ago I did hear that the countries which have year-round hot/warm weather will experience cold weather.
Fellow Dominicans, would love to hear your comments. Be kind. OK!
I am residing in Toronto and we are experiencing a heat wave, day and night. It is worst in the U.S.
It is hot and humid! Humidity is bad and for the health and those who suffer with heart problems. Heart problems could also be brought on by the heat.
Thank God Dominica does not have humidity. When the sun goes down the temperature is just superb. Here, the humidity does not let down unless the temperature goes down and we are hot, hot, hot. Too hot!
As usual, we are told to drink plenty of water. No pop, coffee and the likes which do not help to quench our thirst and moisturize our internal body. Eating fruits and salads at this time are important.
The prediction of the weather forecast is that we will have a dry, hot summer until September. I say, God help us.
People are advised not to water their lawns and to conserve energy. Some people are not utilizing their air-conditioning. They are using fans. When it is hot and humid the fans could be redundant, blowing hot air. The grass looks dry and patched. We have not had rain for over three weeks or more. The rain is coming sometime! When it comes, rest assured that there will be a storm with rain, thunder and lightning and whatever else, even power outage. In the area where I reside, last weekend we had several power outage. Do you think Dominica is bad? :) Imagine cooking a meal or utilizing the oven for baking. Consider the frustration. Some years ago Ontario had a power outage for hours which commenced at 4:30 pm on a Friday until the next day! This was no easy matter. Some people lost all their frozen foods in the freezers.
Ottawa, Ontario had a share of a rain storm over the weekend. There was an outdoor concert and the stage covering caved in, injuring a few people. Thank God there were no fatalities.
I did hear that there will be some storms/ hurricanes in the Caribbean. I hope there will be no hurricanes and bad ones. Pray for God’s protection.
God bless everyone. I love Dominica and miss it. Yes my fellow Dominicans, wherever you may reside, even though we may disagree on certain topics we do have something in common. We are Dominicans for life to eternity! Ever thought of that? Wherever we may reside, let us love one another in words and deeds. God’s peace!

A note to the general public: read thoroughly before you post comments. Did it say anywhere that LIME Dominica Ltd. sponsored the “Rihanna Loud in Barbados” summer concert? No, it said LIME…meaning the Caribbean business unit. And after all, that’s what the E in LIME represents; Entertainment. No offense intended… :-|

We have totally disrespected the likes of Bob Marley,Peter Tosh and Nasio Fontaine to promote Rihanna as a great artiste. The woman can’t sing and she’s does not sing, the contents of her lyrics makes no sense and don’t talk about music she’s got none.Is this what we want to promote to the children nudity and sexuality, her performance and video is no better than prostitution.
