The contestants in the 2013 Carnival Queen Show will be launched in their respective villages over the next three upcoming Saturdays.
This forms part of opening activities for Mas Domnik 2013.
The village launches taking place this Saturday will be at Stock Farm for Melinda Ulysses from 3 pm. Daina Matthew will be launched at Canefield at 5pm and Jeanne Royer at the Goodwill Savannah at 7pm.
On Saturday November 24, Fatima Noel will be launched in San Sauveur at 3 pm and Kelsha Breezy will be launched at 5 pm in St. Joseph.
On December 1, Nikisha Philbert will be launched in Laudat at 3 pm and Leslassa Armour-Shillingford at 5 pm in Castle Comfort.
Organizers say the launches are expected to gather support for the contestants. “The seven contestants have begun their rigorous training for the show slated for February 8th, 2013. This weekend begins the village launches making representation by the young ladies in their communities as they all gather support with dreams of victory,” Queen Committee Chairperson Romualda Hyacinth said.
Dominica’s carnival season will be officially opened in January.

Ok being a Past Contestant and Queen myself i must say this year girls are really of top class in looks and talent. So people watch out. I have a few favorites but i shall see.

i am ashamed of how we still handle carnival queen show in dominica. there should be contestants from all ten parishes and the best 7 selected for the contest. the way this is done leaves a lot to be desired…
Based on interview there were girls from all the areas in DA but remember only seven best made it.
To the photographer and any member of the Queen Show Committee; These photos should not have been sent to DNO to published because it is obvious that whoever did the last touch-up to these photos went to the extreme. The faces of the girls are changed and supporters such as myself can’t make out their faces. I hope next set of pictures that the Queen Show committee sends out will be more professional.

And i don’t find the makeup is that hot, some of it is a bit much. Too many bright colours on some cases……….but they are still beautiful.

All you find our ladies are too beautiful to good to be true so all you find they photoshop. We do not like to commend people – just like to find faults – Them women are just lovely did you all see them at Courts today natural beauties andthey were at Fort Young sometime ago and they looked out of this world them ladies are beautiful – photoshop or photoshort cannot pass there – tem just pretty – competition tight

Get a grip noone said that there was anything wrong with the girls, they are all very beautiful and EVERYONE has said so. All people said was that the photos look photoshopped and there was no need to.

When I tell people that Dominica possess some wicked and jealous people, they think is joke. So what it was photoshop or not.. what’s the big deal. the girls are beautiful and their beauty cannot be taken away.
There is no need to find faults. If there is nothing to criticize, then simply move on to the next story. This is just indicative of the kind of people we have produced. Always looking to critize, and I am sure if we see of those talking, not even photoshop can help their faces.

The pictures are not photoshopped…i met all of these girls, made up and noot made up and they are exquisite girls…i must say they are not the crop from the 80’s and 90’s. They are a lot more confident.

Tight competition….but it’s the night of the show to see who really shines….talent, costume, evening wear, answer and question, may the best win…

Excessive photoshop aside. They are all lovely – but #2 is great. Good luck Melinda, I hope your talent shines through. Though I don’t know her personally, but I know of her involvement in the cadet corps and a few other socially beneficial activities she has been involved in.
It would be nice to know what these ladies have achieved thus far in their life. I think miss Dominica should be alot more about ones outlook on life an contribution to society as opposed to how good they look.
We need real role models for the youth.

The ladies are lovely and I do wish them good luck but what ever happen to ladies from the North of the Island because this is not balanced we need to courage the villages on the North to get involved dont allow them to sit on the side and do nothing so it’s up to the canival committee to start pushing them we need a contestant to represent the North of the Island.
