For the first time in the history of pageantry in Dominica, 21 beauties from every constituency in Dominica will vie for the title of Miss Red at the Krazy Kokonuts from 8:00 pm on Saturday.
The show is an initiative of the Labour Youth Organization and Chairperson of the Technical Committee Kamala Jno Baptiste-Aaron, said it intends to create an avenue for growth in the pageantry arena.
“The idea behind this show was basically to give young women, an opportunity to get experience, get some expertise, get a platform to show in serious areas; and to understand what it feels like to be in that kind of environment,” she explained.
Jno Baptiste-Aaron pointed out that many of the participants are showing interest in taking part in other pageants and show will provide an avenue in understanding procedures in the pageant industry.
“Several of them have really expressed an interest in participating in other shows like the Miss Dominica Competition, Miss Wob Dwyiet and we think that this is an excellent avenue to understand how this procedure, process, as this business of pageantry, fashion and beauty works,” she noted.
She said the idea of the show was presented to the Dominica Labour Party national executive by Labor Youth Organization, and it was agreed and decided that it was a good one.
To be in the show participants had to be between the ages of 16-30, be of sound character, be a high school graduate, and single.
There will be four appearances: an opening dance and introduction, artistic wear (representing the party color), high fashion red and evening wear.
All 21 will compete in the first two rounds. After the second round the top 11 will be selected to compete in the evening wear round.
From the evening wear round the top five will be selected from which the 2013 Miss Red will be crowned.

I always heard it pronounced as “whitey”-kubuli but then I noticed the spelling is “why-too”-kubuli so I’m a bit confused.
