“I was trained by the best in terms of event management… I would like to think I bring a very driven, passionate, closest-thing-to-perfect that you’ve ever seen kind of attitude towards event management and planning,” says the newest DFC Events Director Natalie Clarke, as she introduced herself to Dominica earlier today.
Vice-Chairman of the DFC Mr. Sobers Esprit presented Clarke to the media at a DFC World Creole Music Festival press conference.
“We have every confidence in working with Natalie,” he asserted.
In providing an outline of her experiences Clarke explained her roles in organizing the 2007 Cricket World Cup in the Caribbean and activities in England: the first Stanford 20/20 in Antigua and Caribbean Events in London England.
“I have no hesitation in making sure this festival grows exponentially and that it becomes something that we are all proud of across the region…. I will certainly do my best” said the new events director.
Referring to her staff, Clarke said she has sensed in them the love for the Creole festival and realizes and understands the tremendous challenge that they have in working with an event that contains 17 functional areas, having to group all these areas together and produce something of an international classification using such a small team.
She says she will be looking closely as what it is the tourism ministry is trying to do through the DFC and attempt to deliver just that.
“If it is not broken leave it alone. If it needs tweaking, tweak it and brainstorm with all the movers and shakers in the event to make certain we keep going forward here in the Commonwealth of Dominica,” she said.
We need more FRENCH BANDS………………IT’S CREOLE!!!!!!!!

UB40 legend ALI CAMPBELL has been struck down with a rare virus which has laid him out of action for two months – and off the road for the rest of the year.
The reggae singer, 51, who has just finished recording his new solo album Great British Songs, has picked up the little-known Epstein-Barr Virus.
A statement released today confirmed: “Last week he had what appeared to be flu, but he also had a very high temperature.
“Having undergone several medical tests he has been diagnosed with the Epstein-Barr Virus.
“The virus can be very debilitating and doctors have subsequently advised him to have 8 weeks complete rest.
“The doctors have also advised Ali to ease up on all touring commitments until the end of the year – in order to fully recover from the virus.”
Check the SUN NEWS paper online and you will know what i am talking about…
One love..Just concerned..
I hope she continues to include the local bands in the lineup in the coming years.
I agree with Norman Letang in this interview that the festival has lost its purpose.

@Conscious Mike: I wish you success, Ms. Clarke. I hope the Government makes your job easier by injecting more cash in the event.
Conscious Mike , why should Govt used tax payers money to pump money into some Sewo function that has been losing money every year?
I wish you success, Ms. Clarke. I hope the Government makes your job easier by injecting more cash in the event.
