The New Dimension Theatre, 27 years of quality productions is bringing the Dominica public its latest dramatic production entitled ‘After the Honeymoon.’
‘After the Honeymoon’ is another hot number from prolific playwright and Director Steve Hyacinth premiers at the Arawak House of Culture on Friday 23rd September 2011 at 8.00pm and runs until Sunday 25, 2011.
The play which runs for the weekend takes us on a journey through the lives of a married couple (Tomas and Abigail) after their honeymoon. It has been said that every married couple looks forward with great anticipation to their honeymoon –the fun, excitement, joy and frolic.
The question that lingers on in everybody’s mind is not so much what happens during the honeymoon but what happens after the honeymoon. How much of that special moon of romance is their when the honey is done?
Tomas the husband, maybe influenced by his period of socialization or driven by his ambitions to follow his father footstep or through his possessiveness and stubbornness, tries unceasingly to force his wife to abandon her professional ambitions and surrender more willingly to performing traditional roles. He felt that his satisfaction as a husband and self respect was hinging on his capacity to hold her in such a role. In the pursuit of his goal, he tries doing all things possible to get his wife to do things his way and to comply to his life style, beliefs and standards. Abigail would either rebel or bow down to his resistance, his dominance and selfish and egoistic desires.
The dramaturgical statement is that when our ’true colours’- the varying personalities, moods swings and attitudes begin to shine or come to light in a relationship, they evoke a strong feeling of happiness or disappointment and the reaction is unpredictable and at times inevitable.
After the Honeymoon features only four characters in its intriguing plot!!! Donille Blackmore as Abigail, Lloyd Benjamin as Tomas, Jerry Coipel as El and Mellisha Joseph as Pudding. After the Honeymoon is crafted with countless comical and farcical moments and spiced with laughter and thought provoking. In fact Indeed it will hold us spellbound and provide us with an opportunity to laugh at ourselves the simple thing “WE” do.
We guarantee that you will be thrilled, amused and immensely entertained. At the same time, we hope it will enable us to reflect upon the larger message that is being imparted. Show your true colours….It is one for anyone in a relationship to see.
Will be there!

You are so rediculous. Give the younge pple a chance, guezz. You pple say all kind of things about the young people but when we engage in positive avenues pple like you so are the onces to discourage us. Te Yat Pawol is a group of young vibrant actors and actresses with a motive and malicious grudgeful pple like you will just make us strive to become better for we feed on your negativity to reach higher hights. Is Shine we shining hater.
O My God whats this all about the comments were clean and friendly until you responded do you have a grude against the other theatre groups. Lets not be political and support each other, you sounded very defensive about something. Easy, the art form not use to that.
This does not reflect the views of the group..We are in this for the love of the art and to contribute to cultural and educational growth of Dominica through our play’s commentary.
Has Steve ever thought of doing a full length movie?
The guy is such a prolific playwright I am sure that he could put together a movie script and take his game a couple notches up.
Where can I purchase tickets?

Always wonder why these plays are not taken to the neighboring islands where so many dominicans reside. I am sure they would be welcomed in places like Antigua, st. maarten and Anguilla etc
