No firearms at WCMF

Patrons of the 2012 World Creole Music Festival have been warned that firearms or offensive weapons will not be allowed at the venue of the festival.

Licensed and unlicensed firearms along with knives, scissors and ice picks are on the list of banned items, according to head of private security Nicholas George.

Speaking at the 5th press conference of the WCMF on Wednesday George said the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force will be working in collaboration with private security firms to ensure a safe festival for the public.

He said no one will be allowed to the park unless they possess a valid ticket or is accredited to attend the festival. “Entry to the park will be by the provision of a valid ticket sold by the DFC or an authentic I.D card to which you are accredited. If you try something else you will be questioned and denied entry … if people try to force their way through they will find legal action being taken against them,” the retired police officer warned.

George told patrons that they should come to the event to enjoy a crime free environment.

The 16th World Creole Music Festival is carded for 26th-28th October, 2012.

Some of us have become copy cats and feel that we are somebody by possessing weapons. Why is it that weapons have become such a fancy to some people? Isn’t it madness that someone or some people would carry a weapon or weapons to a place where people are gathered to have fun and to enjoy themselves? It seems like life has become worthless to some people and weapons have become the toys of the day.
We really need tight security on those days and whoever loks for his or her trouble will have to suffer the consequences.

I would like to commend mr. George for explaining the reasons why these weapons are not allowed during the World Creole Music Festival. His explanations were given during the 13:15 local news earlier this afternoon. Patrons with any illicit intentions should take heed and stay away from the festivities.

“Entry to the park will be by the provision of a valid ticket sold by the DFC or an authentic I.D card to which you are acredited.” Very good news guys because we need to protect our image.
Having said this, I am now left to wonder if attending WCMF is more important than our general election. My question is, if the heads behind the WCMF see it important to ensure that those attending the WCMF must possess a valid ticket or is accredited to attend through an authentic I.D card, then why should anyone participate in our election without an authentic voters I.D Card? Why should anyone be allowed to vote whether they are Dominican or Antiguan, dead or alive? Good move WCMF! In case you are upset with my question, just take a look at my name.

Those are basic elementary rules that festive folks should adhere too..

Sorry to Say after 16 years of this Fest, the Line Up has surely taken a downward trend..

Seems they are getting worst as the years go on…

Wont Leave NY to come down for a roadside event,
Cost of airfares is too high, and the scale of this fest really is way too FLAT to say the least.

    Law Abiding Citizen here…
Full acknowledgement of the above guidelines..

But due to severe economic situations/record breaking poverty in Dominica unable To WCMF 16TH Event..

Our Ruling Regime did not have the foresight to See their actions would cripple the vibes and hype towards this National Event..

Where there is no Vision the Nation Perishes..
