No Vybz Kartel month-end

Many fans were looking toward witnessing the performance of Jamaican dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel on Dominican soil on Jan. 29.

However, reliable sources have informed Dominica News Online late last night that Kartel will not be performing because of personal reasons beyond his control.

The sources say the show may be postponed or canceled but the public will be kept up to date of any developments.

That’s what is known as DEATH BELLS (kla lamor)
Some people make music to listen to and make love to(babies are BORNE)
Some people make music to DANCE to
others make music to DIE and KILL to.

Please keep it IN Jamaica. Jamaican people are crying to be rescued from its violent and killing yougth, and DEATH BELLS you want to bring to Dominica, just for the money. Stop it, get a flipping life/.

I definitely must say that cove is a tremendous area for having social entertainment but in an event like bringing vybz kartel down and having his concert at the cove is to small for the occasion lots of people would want to go,but at the same time they would not have the opportuntunity to get through into the cove since is not spacious.Having this show at the newton savannah would be the ideal area of having such an event like this, because everyone would have a fine opportunity to see him perform.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THAT BECAUSE EVERYONE IS SPEAKING ABOUT THE VENUE

Qt: Name one C/bean artist who isn’t the voice of the poor?

    Ans: Sean Paul

Sean Paul is an uptown yout that’s why his music so different he nvr lived the hardcore ghetto life of the inner city in j/a like vado, kartel, ele and the others.
Dat y Sean Paul don’t get that much rating in j/a but he did his thing internationally though

its amazing how some people justify something by comparing it to something much worse than it….the ignorance where someone can call someone they don’t know dumb..i could be a friend of urs who you just told “suck yuh momma”…not many ppl can say they listen to more dancehall than me(with more than 70GB of riddims) if you can sincerely say that Vybez Kartel message can be called positive then its clear who the idiot is…the voice of the poor? name a caribbean artist that isn’t the voice of the poor, why not listen to dancehall/reggae music that will uplift the ppl..not tell them to “tell ur enemy fi gwey” and “shot informa”…

you know its a waste of time even saying this because sometimes some people rarely see the big picture..u see the free up and the good time, listen to the voice of the poor, walk the path. nah me, higher levels, higher meditation, upliftment of the youth, respect for women, if you not in that well so we used to say “that’s you”

    Peace

one person said that gully side came asking for peace,,, well i’d like to know wats wrong with that,,,, when u have innocent people dying over the gaza/gully conflict,,, ur saying that asking for peace is wrong cmon,,,,,, d/ca in j.a,,,, jamaicans don’t dictate who is hotter on the international scale lets be honest,,,, so the poll does not show a distinct overall perception,,,,, kartel being banned in the u.s seem to be a good thing nnnnaaaahhhhh man that’s bad for business,,, its simply cause he’s music is straight trash,,,,,, n doh tell me bout that batti man music crap,,,, mavado blasts batti man too,,,, n busy signal gets way more promotion n ads than kartel,,,, we have to understand that out there mavado n busy r more known n respected,,,,,, another example,,,, its obvious triple kay’s the hottest band in d.a but in n.y or london the people doh want dem nah man,,,, swinging stars gets more love dan dem man in the diaspora,,,,, lets keep in mind that reggae/dancehall is no longer jamaican music,,,, its international music originating from jamaica,,,, the biggest star overall as far as popularity n album sales aint from jamaica,,,,,, he’s shaggy n he’s from england,,,,, so when i said mavado is hotter n more popular than kartel,,,, man i was referring to it internationally,,,, D/CA IN J.A u shoulda read everything,,,,cause i read everything b4 i comment,,,,, kartel makes 10 songs a month while mavado has 2,,,, simple its also cause mavado is jus too busy touring to put in that body of work kartel does,,,, kartel is local right now seen,,, mavado is international superstar,,, jus accept it man,,, it won’t hurt

@ mouth of the south again. I actually looked it up and u can check it urself here. http://www.jamaica-star.com/thestar/20090917/ent/ent1.html

to summarize. In a September 2009 poll, when peeps asked who was the most popular dancehall artist in j/a the results were:
    Kartel: 47%
    Mavado: 34%
    Beenie Man: 23%

Your boyfriend Busy SIgnal (lol) got a whopping total of 1.7%

So I know what I’m saying dude and got the statistics to back it up.

Oh and why is Busy saying ‘GARY give me one more night’ in the song? Is ur real name Gary by any chance??!! LMAO!!!!

@ mouth of the south. hope u respond dude i didn’t even read ur entire last post b4 i responded. You make some good points for real. With that said, I’m on the ground in j/a u feel me? At UWI every Thursday we have something called Integration Thursdays. Kno wat a forward is? When a GAZA tune comes on compared to a Gullyside, the GAZA forwards are WAY BIGGER.

This guy Chase Cross came to perform and got clapped off. Last Integration of the semester just passed, late October, Mavado himself came through. He performed for like a minute and realized the audience wasn’t really feeling him, too many GAZA fans in the crowd, he just walked off, leaving the GULLY fans crestfallen.

They did a poll in J/A a few months ago and Kartel won the poll in a clean sweep like how Labour just won the election LOL.

But that’s not me dissing Mavado i agree wit most of ur points I’m a fan of both artists. House Cleanin’ still one of my favourite tracks right now u feel me?

  14. Just giving my 2 cents
    January 15, 2010

hehehehe….. i must say- i’m married to a Jamaican man and not even my husband ‘jamaican’ like these Dominican folks on here. I’m just laughing at the jamaican patois they are trying to adopt and the lyrics they are rejoicing over. GAZA or GULLY? Honestly, do these people know anything about Gaza Strip or the Gullyside? I know they do not because if they did, they wouldn’t be following the Jamaicans who are acting ridiculously stupid and taking the GAZA/ GULLY issue to another level. Love the men, love their music…but do not for know way condone this GAZA/GULLY.. how would you feel if you were discriminated against – there are many episodes where the GAZA/ GULLY issue have been taken to the extreme. There are rules to being behind the GULLY and Gaza… know the facts before you come on hear and shout GAZA/ GULLY. What the hell do these young people know about the Jamaican Gullyside or Gaza Strip. Watch the real gangs of the world and then….. I’m sure they wouldn’t be man enough to go around claiming Gaza or Gully….

let’s leave the GULLYSIDE and GAZA strip in jamaica…. we are not on any side… we’re just one accomodating people. Enjoy the music but let it be just that, music.

d/ca in j.a hhahahaha kartel is mad talented,,,but the undisputed king of dancehall hhhmmm i question that one,,,,, mavado is the hottest dancehall artist then busy signal then kartel don’t mislead people,,,, mavado is the most international artist that is up and coming to join the likes of beanie man, shaggy and buju banton,,,, besides how come buju nominated for a GRAMMY and not kartel after dropping 10 songs a month lol,,,,, all mavado do is drop 2 well produced n organized tune a month and he killing all 10 songs of kartel,,,, i aint seen kartel on d billboards top 50 heeeellllllooooo mavado was on it last year with i’m so special and that was after allu said kartel kill him with one man standing track,,,,, MAVADO > kartel,,,, mavado was the guest artist on B.E.T’s rip the runway last year,,, who has new york, toronto.london ,amsterdam and tokyo on lock down collaborating with all big name r&b,hip hop and even rock artists,,,,, who the god mc jay z do track with,,,,,hhhhmmm none other than mavado,,, i want dancehall fans to stop the misleading,,,,,its obvious kartel is more lyrical than mavado but mavado makes better music,,,, DO U KNOW THE DIFFERENCE,,,,,, a lil example,,,, michele henderson has more lyrics but ophelia marie makes better music COMPRENDE,,,, i’m in d music so i know wat i saying,,,, mavado is a chanter so he’s music has more melody and more soul,, so it touches the masses more,,,in other words what kartel try to achieve lyrically but fails to,,,, mavado achieves it while basically singing it,,,, so mavado allows our cries n pain to reach the masses,,,, and lastly MAVADO HAS BETTER PRODUCTION THAN VYBZ KARTEL,,,, if u listen to kartel music,,, really it sounds all rushed cause he wanna maximise so many tracks in a month,,,, so production is poor,,,, but mavado i mean be real we all go ears right,,,, listen to mavado’s tracks they sound so ear pleasing n on point,,, they are well choreographed,,, SO LISTEN FOR YOUR SELF CHECK THE ISRAEL RIDDIM,,,, BOTH GOT TRACKS ON THE SAME BEAT,,, MAVADO’S TRACK IS “WAR IS IN THE AIR” and Kartel’s TRACK IS ‘RIFLE SHOT” u’ll hear the difference GULLY SIDE

    January 15, 2010

hmm kartel is so controversial really. he is super-talented and could make positive songs on the same level of an etana or tarrus riley if he wanted to. But then again his hard-core inner city fans they want the hardcore gun tunes and daggering songs.

I’m a Kartel fan cuz to me the music is just entertainment. There’s no denying though that in j/a lots of folks make it really literal. school kids having sex on the school buses listening to songs like rampin shop, gun men smokin and listenin to kartel then goin on their rampages, these things actually happen in j/a.

kartel comin to d/a is a good look though it shows that promoters here are thinkin bigger with every passing day cuz kartel is the unquestioned king of the dancehall right now.

Haaaahaha this is no suprise. He did that for love fest in St lucia like a month ago. He probably got another venue that pays more. But a lot of the country give him resistance, thats why he doesnt perform too. you see what they did with mavado.

  29. January 15, 2010

That’s good because this man has nothing positive to offer dominica’s youth.

    January 15, 2010

Far Away But So Near Far Away But So Near..you are dumb & your opinion is stupid….you are just talking out of your azz if you dont listen to the man music dont say nothing..that man has written many many many many of positive songs since the Guardian angel & drop leaf riddim..he already have five (5) for 2010 including “dont diss the black woman”do your reasearch & quit blamming the artist for murder rate because crime was an issue in jamaica before kartel was born….furthermore he is not obligated to sing positive music he was never popular for that..go check artist like sizzla who was known for that & now singing more gun tunes than kartel..like kartel would have told you go suck your mumma

To far away but so near
Shot up please you people make me sick with ur rubbish. we live in a society where persons wants acceptance for homosexuality, persons sharing the word of god has more sins than the persons whom they preach to, poor people remain poor, fathers sexually molesting their kids, gay men with aids spreeding it to 90 others and person still support them and you want to come and tell me bout kartel. This is the same shit that was tried with movado where we had three pastors talking against him on a talkshow before his performance and one of those same pastors after his performance was on the talkshow again for distroying a marriage which he was ment to uphold. Comments like this just makes me sick, as long as you people dont understand something its not positive.Kartel is the poor man’s voice, he can sing for the poor cause he walked the path of the poor and he will continue to sing for the poor leave kartel be.

  33. January 15, 2010

Far away but so near -that is not true…what about “school anthem,” “Nuh Dash It Wey,” “Life We Living” (Better Life Riddim) …like I keep saying we too like to speak the negative while we talking about people being negaitve. Kartel is a person just like you and me…there’s good and there’s bad….his song slow motion have a time and place in my life and my i-pod, and ramping shop, Bicycle and Nah let go too…(clean version for me of course)…..

Anyhow…I’m not here to preach pro Kartel or what not, but sometimes we have to give props where its due and dude have some good uplifting song too… seen?

And listen to his new song 2010…maybe some positive vibes will come this year…cause I already doh like how 2009 end with the Lisa Hyper situation.

    Peace!

  35. Far Away But So Near
    January 15, 2010

Cheers…there is really nothing positive that performance would have done for Dominica…the man hasn’t sung a positive song since Guardian angel riddim and before that the only time was Drop Leaf Riddim…he was part of the reason the murder rate in Jamaica was so high due to gang wars last years…knowin my people i know what the response to this is gonna be…just my opinion

  36. Not Surprised
    January 15, 2010

What a shame!!! It’s good that Dominica’s getting all these big time artists!!! Hope that he will get to perform in Dominica!!
