i love the 9 chosen however i would prefer to go to a finals with beno added to that line up i never fore checker being in that line up. hearts off to tasha sye bobb lady stae and soul puss….. lets see if carressa can keep up like dice/……
I like that, this is just what I wanted to do,see how much all you love pat.pat is a great writer and I truly wanted youy guys to give him his flower before he dies. as for me am in DA,and was at the show honestly this year is much better than last year. so please keep up de calyso row row alive,it is healthy.,

MAYFLOWER….what is wrong with sye’s calypso????? Calypso is social comentary. Pat is one of the best writers in the business. But I must agree, the line up is not so great.

To Mayflower , If u said u are a former calypsoian, what are u talking about? I don’t now if u are in DA or not but u out of touch. Who singing song to destroy people? Do your research. as a matter of fact, is’nt calypso social commentry? and current matters affect ing society? I need not say more. Crown or no crown unlawful doings should be exposed to protect our citizens if the authorities fail
Dem guys can’t sing. Let’s bring back the good old days of Spark, Breaker, Caterer, Old Dice, Tokyo, and so forth.
thank God for internet and opinion chat rooms where all crabs can hide in their hole and send dirt at calypsonians and artists who are trying their best. it is sooooo easy to criticise, as a matter of fact the more foolish and ignorant one is, the easier it is to criticise, and the more inclined to try to insult other people, especially when you can hide and throw stone. heres a suggestion why dont some of you suggest a topic to a calypsonian or a writer, and if you really love the art as you claim, help an artist and help our art form improve, instead of just hiding behind alias names and trying to ridicule artists who are making a big sacrifice to keep the culture going. the internet is a good thing, but like all good things it can be used for bad too, so just like they say money is the root of all evil, it is not true, money is harmless, is man who is the root of all evil and all things bad. If you love calypso, HELP IT, HELP THE ARTIST.

AS a forma calypsonian I am not shock about the result,it seems that calypso is going to another high,not so much a great one.I do believe that yakima should take a break.
doe matter what song pat gives her she just can’t sing. and pat knows that.sugar s,what a mess that song is just plain stupid,
what ever pat give them they sing,please.I want the king to remian king.there is not much going on for this year calypso,with or without pat this year is not that good.
as a pass calypsonian I do wish dice. sandy. hunter, tarina and web was there,but they will always be part of DA’s BEST.

I myself don’t know what all you talking about. I don’t know if most of all you have a TIN EAR, but Lady Star to my mind shouldn’t be in the finals. She can’t keep a note to save her life. She has a tendency to scream into the microphone. Her stage props gave her a lot of points…that’s called PRESENTATION. If I had my way i would have replaced Soul Puss with Benno. And she Lady Star with Ghetto Prince.
Big up to Lady Star….sorry you didnt make it Beno…..u should have been in Soca Monarch finals last year too….don’t give up man…after all Karessah take 10 years to get de crown
I dont think Bobb should be in the finals. I think Beno or Ghetto Prince should have been in that place.

Like the judges, many of the people commenting on the results of the semifinals know very little about calypso and for the most part are very biased. i sense a lot of hate for any calypsonian who sings any song which appears to praise the government, while any song with the words, corruption, bobol or the like seem to be an automatic favourite and so-called ‘good calypso’. We really need to set aside those petty biases. To all those people who are attacking scrunter because he sang for the government and helped get them back in power, this is not the right forum and manner to do this. After all this is a man who has taken the crown on three occasions already and the election results is still 18-3 and no amount of government bashing calypsoes in the finals can change that. That having been said, I believe that his song lacked enough creativity and ‘calypso energy’ to have made it to the finals and as such I have no problems with his non-inclusion on the list. Daddy Chess to my mind has one of the best calypsoes in the competition and only those too accostumed and blinded by the usual ‘political, government-bashing calypsoes’ could say otherwise. Those saying that Explosion should not have made it to the finals know NOTHING about calypso. This is easily one of the best songs in the competition. I guess many here who only are interested in jumping and waving and ofcourse controversy would obviously find Sye song appealing, however in my mind, while I am not opposed to the message since I believe that all ills in society should be tackled within a calypso, I do not believe that Sye brought out the message in the best way. The song is too crude, even bodering on ‘vulgar’. Sye need to better the art of masking. I don’t think that song should be in the finals. Soul Puss, Tasha-P, Checker, Observer and certainly Lady Star deserved their places. I thought Lady Star has probably the best composition of the competition that i’ve heard thus far and should be a strong contender for the crown with a good second song. In my mind The Bobb, with his sweet voice and all, doesn’t have a calypso worthy of being in the finals. The song frankly is very boring and lacks creativity. There shouldn’t be any discussions why Prosper and Yakima are not in the finals. These two cannot sing don’t matter how good the song you give them. They are not calysonians, just trying a thing. Finally, I am still trying to comprehend how any judge in his right mind could not find a place in the finals for Beno and Getto Prince
