Wow it always astonishes me to see how easy it is for us to bring down our own and rise up that of other countries..anywhere i see a Dominica flag being waved even if is one small flag i proud that even one person representing…thats y we can get nowhere because we like crabs in a barrel…i like the presentation…good reppin of our country…
looks good
if you do not have dual citizenship or visa you cannot be part of that
HHHM
SO THATS WHERE MY WIFE IS
…AND SHE TOLD SHE WAS GOING FOR A HIP OPERATION
Yes Da you there.Best among the rest.Hats off to the organisers. These are the patriots.
good job representing the country in any way…i take my hat off to the people who took part…i still cannot believe these bands haven’t come out to represent their country..smh
The pics are nice, but I saw vid on YouTube and they could have use a Lapo Kabwit. There was a group from Gwada that had a gwoka band and they had so much gam. Still a commendable effort thouhg
THAT GIRL IN THE FIRST PICK THICK PAPA.REAL D.A. WOMAN,WELL STUMPY.NUFF GOOD FOOD.
Know Your Culture you all did a great job displaying our cultural wear. Keep on, don’t stop putting D/ca on the map. God Bless to all who took part.
Pride about what ???? Looks drab and pathetic.
Thank U!!!
I’m proud. Wish I could have been a part of this.
I didn’t see no sansay in dem pics.I saw crapsay.
Typical Dominican and black people boy!
i am very impressed at the pics but i’m concerned also that who couldnt be in wob could be jumping to a band later on..dominicans need to come together and raise funs to put a band on the road next year.i’ll be there…
This is what true patriotism is about…stop fighting among our little selves, come together and represent in possitive way.
GREAT JOB,GREAT REPRESENTATION,AND BEAUTIFUL DESIGNS.FROM SINCE WE CELEBRATED INDEPENDENCE WEARING SOMETHING NATIONAL ON LABOR DAY IN 2008, I REALLY THOUGHT IT WAS THE BEGINING OF THINGS TO COME.I WAITED TO HEAR SOMETHING HAPPENING IN 2009-2011 ON THE PACKWAY AND TO NO AVAIL.I WAS LEFT WITH NO OTHER OPTION BUT TO JOINE A TRINI FLOUT IN 2009-2010,AND WAS THE PICTURE OF THE DAY BECAUSE OF MY REPRESENTATION IN 2010.THIS YEAR I ENDED JOINING A GRENADIAN BAND AND STILL CARRYING MY DOMINICAN FLAG AS THE KING OF THE BAND.I WOULD HAVE RATHER BE IN THIS DOMINICAN CONTENGENT IF THERE WAS INFORMATION LEADING UP TO THIS. THE PROBLEM IS THE OFFICIALS IN THE DOMINICA OFFICE IN NEW YORK,AND OTHER STATES HAS A COMMUNICATION PROBLEM. LOTS OF DOMINICANS WANT TO BE INVOLVE, BUT WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE WE ARE NOT ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THINGS DOMINICA.WE HEAR ALL ABOUT CALYPSO IN BROOKLYN ON DBS,AND I BELIEVE THESE SAME INDEVEDUALS COULD HAVE ADVERTISE DOMINICA’S PARTICIPATION FOR LABORDAY.AND TO THOSE WITH THAT NONESENSE MAS FACE. FROM SINCE 911 HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO HALLOWEEN PARADE? THERE ARE ALL TYPES OF MAS FACE, EVEN THOSE THAT LOOK LIKE SOME PPL USE FOR CARNIVAL IN DOMINICA.PLEASE GET YOUR INFORMATION RIGHT ABOUT BANNING OF MAS FACE.I WAS HAPPY TO HEAR DOMINICA GOT FIRST PLACE IN THE SENSAY IN THE SMALL GROUPE BAND. SO AM LOOKING FOWARD TO SEE SOMETHING DOMINICA AND PARTICIPATE IN 2012.
Admin, I would appreciate if you would instruct commentators to stop commenting in capital letters. This makes reading very difficult, though the content may be very interesting, but the full capitalization throws one off. Please Admin instruct, thanks.
ADMIN: I hope the other bloggers see read this comment. Capital letters throw some people off.
I agree caps should be used only for emphasis and to express emotion. If it is all caps it is unreadable and looks like you are angry.
WHAT! ADMIN?
WHAT KIND OF EYES DO THESE PEOPLE HAVE?
HELLO. THE PURPOSE FOR CAPS IS THAT U COULD SEE THE LETTER WITHOUT STRAINING UR EYES.
NOW MY APOLOGIES FOR THE SHAKESPARES WHO WANT TO WRITE A WHOLE NOVEL IN CAPS. I DON’T READ IT; AR LESS IF IT WERE IN LOWER CASE.
THANK YOU ADMIN OR YOUR UNDERSTANDING
wat!! you mean to tell me the one year I decide not to go is the year an ACTUAL band of dominicans, not just sparingly scattered all over de place, on de parkway?! weh weh weh…
DOMINICANS IN AN OTHER LAND ENJOYING THEMSELVES YOU ALL HAVE PROBLEM WITH THAT ?why don’t you all just start world war three.
everything is a war of words, you all sounds freaking gangrenous.

“Sorry I could not make it this year from California…” – Jesus Christ.
dat i checking der
This makes me feel such a sense of pride! It really tells a story. This is what it’s all about.!
must say that i am proud, this here makes me forget all what is going on here in Dominica and i feel like i was in America.
please admin try to get us some more photos if you can, this is just great. i lov my culture so much.
At the last meeting cabinet had with returning dominicans in 2011, a returning Dominican said there was no Dominica flag on the park way. I want to know what he saying now.
Dominicans have come out every year for the past three or so years to look for some Dominican band on the parkway and have been disappointed. This small group would have made those who were there at the time proud. like I said earlier compared to the contingent from Grenada who were promoting their Island and athlete Kirani James, Dominica’s group was very small. I came to the parkway late and missed them but the pictures show that we were represented. I did hear an ad done by wadix the Friday before labor day indicating that we would have a group on and that very friday night at one of the Dominican Jams (at Fosters) a friend of mine inquired of one of the promoters of the kings of kings calypso show whether that was so and can you imagine that promoter’s answer was “NO”. I must say that we have to do better than that and should work together for country and not in a disjointed way where folks do this here and that there possibly looking to serve their own selfish interest. The jamaicans, Haitians, Grenadians and Trinis all work together promoting their homeland. The numbers representing us this year is a start or restart. Hope it gets better
Why wasnt this group promoted more so that other interested person (like me)could join. For years I have my Wob in my wardrobe and would love to have put it to good use.
Great effort – something different from the ‘skimpy’ customes that are paraded. I hope that it can be done next year and well promoted and open to all Dominicans interested in part-taking.
Nice pics
As a Dominican leaving in the US for 25 years I am for the first time most impressed with our presentation at the labor Day parade. I am sure the other islands will copy this presentation- Huge baby huge
Very nice and positive. Good publicity for the World Creole Music Festival; very thoughtful.
PS: Sensay ina New York but we fight sensay in South City and St. Joe. Now Roseau wants it their way. Thanks to us we kept it alive despite armed police suppression.
The reason they fight sensay in Grandbay is because there is the select few that use the disguise of the wear to commit crimes and unlawful behavior. Just enjoy the pics and stop complain.
from some of the comments posted by dominicans on dno I could swear we …. america. im glad to see that we don’t. <<<>>> love out to all dominicans at home and abroad… love you too america !!!! but dominica is home!!!!
next year GOD willing invite the pm and opposition leader to celebrate with you all. LET THEM SHOW HOW PATRIOTIC THEY ARE OUTSIDE OF DOMINICA.
Beautiful
Thank you Dominica for your presence and thanks to those who made it possible. However, I was very disappointed to see the banner for the World Creole Music Festival being carried by individuals, because you could not see the banner from the crowd. Guys we know better… stop limiting our country’s protential, and show the world our existence.
That is so wonderful
Very Lovely >>>Very Beautiful i must say….
Because of all the shootings that had already taken place that day, they were asking people to remove masks.
so whats your point
i wounder if one day will be able to see dominicans in china like this free and free from fear.
have u being to china? well i have been and i was free free free. stop saying wat u hear
some of all u just cant keep the vibes positive
You stupid idiot, DNO has published photos in the past of Dominican students in China in National wear celebrating Dominica’s independence together with their chinese counterparts. You moron. I amazes me how ignorant and shallow minded some of you folks are. Guess you need to read and maybe travel some more to appreciate that there is more to the world than the great old USA.
this is a great day
this so beautiful
Sensay without a mask is not sensay that is just a piece of the costume the face should look like this
What you need to understand is that after 9-11 there are a lot of restrictions in the USA, you should be proud that they are out there marketing the nature island
repersent
ITS A GOOD THING THAT YOU ALL DID NOT PUT THAT UGLY FACE ON THE SENSA COSTUMES IN NEWYORK….
wat the hell u talking about do u no anything about sensa uglier than u
Hat off to the KNOW YOUR CULTURE GROUP in New Jersey, and the other Dominican who made this happen. Sabina George great job your team looks great.
Wonderful
