This is what true patriotism is about…stop fighting among our little selves, come together and represent in possitive way.

GREAT JOB,GREAT REPRESENTATION,AND BEAUTIFUL DESIGNS.FROM SINCE WE CELEBRATED INDEPENDENCE WEARING SOMETHING NATIONAL ON LABOR DAY IN 2008, I REALLY THOUGHT IT WAS THE BEGINING OF THINGS TO COME.I WAITED TO HEAR SOMETHING HAPPENING IN 2009-2011 ON THE PACKWAY AND TO NO AVAIL.I WAS LEFT WITH NO OTHER OPTION BUT TO JOINE A TRINI FLOUT IN 2009-2010,AND WAS THE PICTURE OF THE DAY BECAUSE OF MY REPRESENTATION IN 2010.THIS YEAR I ENDED JOINING A GRENADIAN BAND AND STILL CARRYING MY DOMINICAN FLAG AS THE KING OF THE BAND.I WOULD HAVE RATHER BE IN THIS DOMINICAN CONTENGENT IF THERE WAS INFORMATION LEADING UP TO THIS. THE PROBLEM IS THE OFFICIALS IN THE DOMINICA OFFICE IN NEW YORK,AND OTHER STATES HAS A COMMUNICATION PROBLEM. LOTS OF DOMINICANS WANT TO BE INVOLVE, BUT WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE WE ARE NOT ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THINGS DOMINICA.WE HEAR ALL ABOUT CALYPSO IN BROOKLYN ON DBS,AND I BELIEVE THESE SAME INDEVEDUALS COULD HAVE ADVERTISE DOMINICA’S PARTICIPATION FOR LABORDAY.AND TO THOSE WITH THAT NONESENSE MAS FACE. FROM SINCE 911 HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO HALLOWEEN PARADE? THERE ARE ALL TYPES OF MAS FACE, EVEN THOSE THAT LOOK LIKE SOME PPL USE FOR CARNIVAL IN DOMINICA.PLEASE GET YOUR INFORMATION RIGHT ABOUT BANNING OF MAS FACE.I WAS HAPPY TO HEAR DOMINICA GOT FIRST PLACE IN THE SENSAY IN THE SMALL GROUPE BAND. SO AM LOOKING FOWARD TO SEE SOMETHING DOMINICA AND PARTICIPATE IN 2012.

Admin, I would appreciate if you would instruct commentators to stop commenting in capital letters. This makes reading very difficult, though the content may be very interesting, but the full capitalization throws one off. Please Admin instruct, thanks.

ADMIN: I hope the other bloggers see read this comment. Capital letters throw some people off.

I agree caps should be used only for emphasis and to express emotion. If it is all caps it is unreadable and looks like you are angry.

        WHAT! ADMIN?
WHAT KIND OF EYES DO THESE PEOPLE HAVE?
HELLO. THE PURPOSE FOR CAPS IS THAT U COULD SEE THE LETTER WITHOUT STRAINING UR EYES.

NOW MY APOLOGIES FOR THE SHAKESPARES WHO WANT TO WRITE A WHOLE NOVEL IN CAPS. I DON’T READ IT; AR LESS IF IT WERE IN LOWER CASE.

THANK YOU ADMIN OR YOUR UNDERSTANDING

At the last meeting cabinet had with returning dominicans in 2011, a returning Dominican said there was no Dominica flag on the park way. I want to know what he saying now.

    • September 8, 2011

Dominicans have come out every year for the past three or so years to look for some Dominican band on the parkway and have been disappointed. This small group would have made those who were there at the time proud. like I said earlier compared to the contingent from Grenada who were promoting their Island and athlete Kirani James, Dominica’s group was very small. I came to the parkway late and missed them but the pictures show that we were represented. I did hear an ad done by wadix the Friday before labor day indicating that we would have a group on and that very friday night at one of the Dominican Jams (at Fosters) a friend of mine inquired of one of the promoters of the kings of kings calypso show whether that was so and can you imagine that promoter’s answer was “NO”. I must say that we have to do better than that and should work together for country and not in a disjointed way where folks do this here and that there possibly looking to serve their own selfish interest. The jamaicans, Haitians, Grenadians and Trinis all work together promoting their homeland. The numbers representing us this year is a start or restart. Hope it gets better

Why wasnt this group promoted more so that other interested person (like me)could join. For years I have my Wob in my wardrobe and would love to have put it to good use.
Great effort – something different from the ‘skimpy’ customes that are paraded. I hope that it can be done next year and well promoted and open to all Dominicans interested in part-taking.

Very nice and positive. Good publicity for the World Creole Music Festival; very thoughtful.

PS: Sensay ina New York but we fight sensay in South City and St. Joe. Now Roseau wants it their way. Thanks to us we kept it alive despite armed police suppression.

      September 8, 2011

The reason they fight sensay in Grandbay is because there is the select few that use the disguise of the wear to commit crimes and unlawful behavior. Just enjoy the pics and stop complain.

Thank you Dominica for your presence and thanks to those who made it possible. However, I was very disappointed to see the banner for the World Creole Music Festival being carried by individuals, because you could not see the banner from the crowd. Guys we know better… stop limiting our country’s protential, and show the world our existence.

You stupid idiot, DNO has published photos in the past of Dominican students in China in National wear celebrating Dominica’s independence together with their chinese counterparts. You moron. I amazes me how ignorant and shallow minded some of you folks are. Guess you need to read and maybe travel some more to appreciate that there is more to the world than the great old USA.
