Portsmouth to experience Kweyol Village Lyme

Based on the success of last year’s inaugural staging of the Kweyol Village Lyme, the National Bank of Dominica (NBD) and the Dominica Festivals Committee (DFC) will partner once more to bring back the three-night event, this time slightly decentralizing it.

The NBD presented the DFC with a cheque of $50,000 at a press conference on Wednesday.

Kweyol Village Lyme is scheduled for October 8 and 22 at the Roseau Bayfront from 5 p.m. and October 15 at Borough’s Square in Portsmouth from 6 p.m.

Susan Joseph Piper, marketing executive at NDB, told the DFC press conference: “We saw the need to assist the DFC in its initiative to introduce more fringe events to the WCMF. This year we are taking the Kwelyol Village Lyme to Portsmouth because we strongly believe in decentralizing the festival.”

Events Director of the DFC Natalie Clarke thanked NDB for their sponsorship on behalf of her office.

The bank has  sponsored the World Creole Music Festival  for over five years.

@yout: That’s just a dumb ignorant comment. I feel sorry for us with people like you as fellow citizens.

I love Possy. It got a lot of potential to be the center of economic activity in Dominica. Hoping one day some administration will wake up and smell the coffee.

Note. I’m Born, Bred, and Raised Roseau. So no Possy bias here.

    @yout:

Cool then you gonna miss out big time of the hospitality of the people and all the good times this event is promising to deliver. And I am sorry who said you will be missed, unless of course you plan to do something foolish…Rethink your decision and come be part of the Kweyol Village Lime in Portsmouth and Roseau and hopefully if the planners decide in either Marigot or Castle Bruce or La Plaine…

so Yout come on down and enjpy your self…drug free, alcohol free and weapon free…ok dude

    to yout.
You are an ignorant fool. People like you will go no where and will only stay in the gutter where you belong. You do not need to come to Portsmouth as we will have a great time and also we will enjoy the Portsmouth Parish Reunion from October 30th to November 7th free of incidents. One bad apple will not spoil the whole bunch. Portsmouth will not be the first to have shooting and we will not be the last.
Low minded peolpe like you only stay and hide behind a desk top. Get a life. Portsmouth will enjoy the visitors that will come to have a good time and enjoy clean fun. You are not invited.

To Dominican Based in London. I support yopur views and I am also from Portsmouth living in New York and I visit home regularly and I do enjoy my stay when ever I am in Portsmouth.

    -Yout,

I had to reply to your comment. I was raised up in Portsmouth from the age of three as my parents left to emigrate to the UK. I visit home when I can as I have siblings, relations and friends there. So please what you have written is not a very nice thing to write. When you write something like this it is open to everyone to read and they might follow your written words, Upon following your written words Portsmouth would have no form of visitors to take part in a festival. That is what we woul call (Boycott) I know thatis your view, but please tone it own a bit.

Problems are everywhere in this great big wide world that was given to us by the creator. Everyone has a choice wheter to do evil or good. Remeber we have a choice, so please stop being negative. I am sure if you attend all will be well and nothing will happen to you and yours.

    Happy festival to Portsmouth!!

I think Portsmouth needs an art institute, where youths can educate themselves in dance, music and other arts. Please, not everyone is cut out to be accountants, lawyers etc. Hmmm right now a professional Dominican Musician would easily replace UB40 lead singer.

well I guess you wouldn’t make it in America. Have a positive mind and keep in a positive environment, I don’t think a bullet will reach you.

I wish to congratulate the National Bank of Dominica for staging this year’s Kweyol Village Lyme and the Dominica Festivals Committee for partnering on this important fringe event. However, I am disappointed that the only the people of Roseau and Portsmouth will get a taste of the Village Lyme. The Lyme is scheduled to be held on October 8 and 22 in Roseau and October 15 in Portsmouth. Why can’t one of the days, either October 8 or 22 be held in Marigot or Castle Bruce or La Plaine instead of the event being staged twice in Roseau. Afterall if we want a authentic village Lyme then one of those days should be reserved for a real village experience.
