Premier of Hated 2 Death carded for December 30

Jno Baptiste

The new Jamaican movie starring Dominican Germina Jno-Baptiste got the go ahead at the Arawak House Of Culture to hold the prestigious movie premier of Hated 2 Death on 30th December 2011.

Junior Hart CEO and Director said that he is delighted that the movie will get its second showing in the beautiful Island of Dominica, the home of Germina Jno Baptiste.

“Collywood will be going all out to make this a movie event Dominica have never seen before,” Hart said. “We are looking to give away FREE DVDs of the movie trailer so people can get a sneak preview of the quality and style of the movie. Collywood will be using a marketing tactic called gorilla marketing, never seen before in the Caribbean.”

Hart developed his Gorilla film making and marketing in Africa eight years ago.

“Judging by the response, we may have to put on another two to three dates,” Hart noted. “This is going to be a great night out leading up to New Year and what better way to enjoy the festive season. We are looking to capture the best dress for the BBC documentary that will be filmed for the BBC which we are looking to complete for the next year Olympics in London 2012.”

On the night Collywood will be looking to invite the cream of Dominican entertainers to join Germina Jno Baptiste on this historic moment celebrating her achievement of the first Dominican to play a lead part on the big screen.

The premier will be on 30th December 2011 at the Arawak House of Culture. Show starts 7.30 pm sharp. Tickets are priced at $20 in advance and $30 at the door. People can reserve their tickets online from now through the Collywood website www.collywoodcinemas.com and pay at the door when they arrive on the night.

There will also be a ticket texting service to be released soon, this service enable you to text and reserve tickets and pay at the box office on arrival.

“We are utilising the mobile phone and internet as a tool for people to reserve and purchase their tickets. This in itself makes life easy and cuts down on paper tickets” Steve Boyle, head of market, said.

Coolywood, a word of advice to you.

I understand your feelings when you are being bombarded with what you consider negative talk. In any business where you deal with humans (especially consumers) who are by and large not experts in the field you are going to get a fair degree of thak kind of talk. Being a marketing professional (I assume you are), you have to be able to take that negative feedback and identify the positives that could come out of it. That makes you better since you are trying to capture the very people who you consider to be negative.

I have dealth with marketing people for a very long time and believe me, they do want the negative feedback. That tells them they have more work to do to reach a broader market.

The responses I have seen from you seem to be from a very sensitive person who has trouble dealing with people who only pats you on the back.

Very often people who give you negative feedback are not your enemy. Thay are actually very interested parties who are giving you very valuable information.

The people who you should be more concerned about are those who stay on the sidelines and say nothing and will ignore your project.

Negative feedback is not always a bad think. All you need to do is look for the positive in the “negative’

Best of luck on your project. We need more Caribbean people doing things to reflect our culture. Kudos to you and the gang.

I think you all need to re-think the date of the premiere as a lot of Dominicans are somewhat religious and go to church on that night. But as you also stated there may be other possible dates of showing. Please consider this greatly as to allow more people to veiw the movie. All the support to my girl Germina.

This girl has achieved great things for the little Island of Dominica. She is the 1st female to PLAY a LEAD role ON THE BIG SCREEN (movie) not Television, there has been other Dominicans in TV such as Roosie Richards in Young and restles (NOT THE BIG SCREEN) Miss Cooke in All my Children (NOT LEAD) yes there has been other actors mainly male on the big screen (Henry Wilcoxan)NOT A LEAD ROLE IN THE TEN COMMANDMENTS who by the way was a white man and he didn’t exactly flaunt it around Hollywood that he was from Dominica. You have to question was this the reason becuase of the skin colour he reached great hights in Hollywood. Well Germina is black and like Obama she has broken through….Go girl, as a dominican I am very proud. Big up. That person with the ///@ name PLEASE ENLIGHTEN ALL OF US HERE ON DNO AND TELL US OF THE PERSON OR PERSONS THAT IS COMES FROM DOMINICA OR IN DOMINICA WHO HAS PLAYED A LEADING ROLE (I say this again and take note properly, becuae it seems you are now going into racist stupidy about small Island which I don’t think if that was the case this Company would not be bothered about coming here and doing the great work they intend doing) PLEASE TELL WHICH DOMINICAN FEMALE HAS PLAYED A LEADING ROLE..NOT SUPPORT ON TV OR THE BIG SCREEN..LEADING ROLE (DUMB HEAD) Lets see if you can come off your militant mind and answer the question.

Why is it that 80% of the population are always struggling to make ens meet and 20% are the wealthy..becuase the 80% is made up of fools like Caribbean Lady. The 20% is made up of people like the owner of Collywood…visionairies. Just food for thought..so if you are struggling to make ends meet, just remember the 80% group who are negative in everything they do.

    • /////@

Without the 80% the 20% is nothing since the 100% is made up by adding both numbers. Read some Hegel on the dialectic on the master and salve relationship.

Oh my god, I don’t believe this ongoing discussion. I have been following this and what a load of rubbish. I am a struggling actress in Dominica for years. I have been trying to get work in the profession to no avail. When I heard about these Collywood people and what they are doing, I was so pleased..finally I said in my mind, someone is doing it. Making Caribbean proper ongoing caribbean movies..and they want to come and invest in talents in Dominica…GOD BLESS JUNIOR HART AND HIS COMPANY. I will be going to the premier, you will get my 100% support, becuase if we give support, then success for the Island will be 10 fold where other Dominicans can come aboard this train. Germina, you have started a wonderful thing, you have open a door that wikll help other actresses like me to excel. Thank you my dear and god bless and I wish you all the best from the bottom of my heart. Don’t worry about these losers on here…thats all they are just losers and posers.

At Last a positive mind with the right outlook has been injected into this. I am astounished with small minded people, yes I say small minded, becuase here is something all Dominican should be proud of…this person who came on here and started wondering about the name….why did he not in the same breath turn and say…WELL DONE GERMINA FOR BEING THE FIRST DOMINICAN WOMAN TO PLAY A LEAD ROLE IN A MOVIE. THIS WE ARE PROUD OF AND THANK YOU COLLYWOOD FOR OPENING A DOOR THAT WILL CREATE AND HELP MORE DOMINICANS TO ENTER THE MOVIE WORLD AND CREATE EMPLOYMENT FOR US.

Our CEO Junior Hart instructed that as marketing, certain people will need top be educated as their minds are small and will miss the point of all this…God was he right GAURRILLA, GORRILLA??? does it matter? What does matter is THERE IS A BIG MOVIE PREMEIR WITH THE 1ST EVER DOMINICAN TO PLAY LEAD ON THE BIG SCREEN ON 30TH DEC 2011 AT THE ARAWAK HOUSE OF CULTURE. For all the Haters on this site..you cannot and will not be able to stop this train…it’s bigger than you. The right people like this lady will support it becuase her mind is positive..the negative people will always be sitting on the wall acting as critics and trying to find any little thing to talk about…ITS ALL NONESENSE. WAKE UP IT A NEW AGE..COLLYWOOD WILL MAKE FILMS IN DOMINICA WITH DOMINICANS AND YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT. WE ARE HERE PEOPLE. Bless

Why and for what are we paying $20-$30 when we know for a fact the cinema of choice is incapable of rendering the “true artistic vision” of the film. No Hi Def 1080p, Dolby 1.5 much less 1.7 sound. I would suggest that you charge $10.00 and screen the film on the Jumbo tron in the stadium. That way you can maximize your $$$$ investment and more people will have a chance to see the screening in this hard econ times. Yes, I can see the $30. for a copy of the DVD but NOT for a screening at a venue that will not allow one the see the “true artistic vision” of the film. Come on Steve it is nothing personal but you know where I am coming from and you know better so do the right thing.

What a fraud for these people to say that they invented gorilla marketing, doing this first in Dominica. That is not true. Also, the way they are talking as if people need to rush to get free DVDs is as if it is such a big secret and as if people have time to waste. We are an advanced society in Dominica. Just stop playing around and place the trailer on social media such as Youtube and Facebook. You can give away free ones for those who still are back in the DVD stage but most of us young people want to watch it on our phones. Get with the times.

I wish you guys all the best but you have to come better than that as if people will line up for your trailer DVDs because you said it is FREE. We are more sophisticated than that. Good luck with your work. I will try to come to see it.

Please enlighten me. Also what has sophistication have to do with this..not everybody in DM has a BB or well up on the lates £GP technology..by the way if you wish to discuss further into 3GP technology, I would be happy to show my level of sophistication in this field. If yiou ask your grandmother who is not up wit the lates technology or the older generation..you will find that they will be happy with DVD’s..my man, it takes all people to make a world..but your young so I hope you can learn.

the changing of guerilla to gorilla is not new to me… and let me tell u why… we saw in 02-03 the introduction to the mainstream of rapper 50 cent and his guerilla unit… yes this was the original wording… guerilla.. a fighter of rights… revolutionary… but NO!!! the label heads and managers at interscope who u guessed were white… didn’t like the look and sound of that… the fact of unleashing some ‘guerillas’ on the music industry is too radical and ‘independent’.. so guess what.. they had 50 cent change it to Gorilla Unit… yes gorilla… apes… animals.. primates… whatever u describe them as… oh and don’t forget ‘racist’ people call black people gorilla… so collywood i really appreciate the effort and what u all try to accomplish… we welcome u all in dominica… but please don’t act like the change from guerilla to gorilla is just ‘allu’ choice… u all want to appeal to the hollywood crowd of course… so u use the gorilla instead… wouldn’t want the spielbergs and swazenneggars to think u all unleashing some guerillas on them to hijack their industry… but why do we have to bend over and get f***** beats me

    • Collywood Marketing
      November 4, 2011

Changing the word as you say has nothing to to do with appealing to the Hollywood crowd. Our movies are not geared toward that market. Please take time to have a look at the Collywood Loggo and you will see why the name is spelt in that way. I dont want get pulled into any political nonesense or what appeals to who…Collywood is making movies for Caribbean and African people. Any other nationalities who enjoy our work, all the better, but we are not aiming to please the Hollywood executives…they don’t own us. Our CEO Junior Hart decided on a Loggo for his company and that is it really..simply. Collywood is completely independent and do not get funded from anywhere…in fact they turned down our CEO years ago for funding..so he decided to go it alone and pay for everything out of his own pocket.
