QTS completes first round of eliminations

The ladies of QTS quarterfinals

The field of competitors participating in Q95 Talent Search (QTS) has been cut to twenty-one after performances last Saturday night and a first round of fan voting.

The thirty-two competitors played to a near capacity crowd at the Arawak House of Culture and a panel of judges. Much to the pleasure of the crowd, some competitors showed marked improvement in performance and vocal skill, while others remained solid.

Despite a touch of monotony with the selections, with most competitors singing slow soul and R&B hits, a few standout performances could be noted. Clearly the most theatrically flamboyant of the competitors Chad Astaphan, performing Roy Orbison’s “I Drove All Night”, added an element that was sadly lacking from most other performances. Glen Theophile performed Reggae and Kent Auguiste sang Country adding variety in genre and commanded impressive crowd response to both.

Other notable performances were from Rachel John-Moses, Vernella Williams, Beyanka Moise, Jerd Dorsette and Anderson Angol, whose fan following was easily the largest; screaming from all sides of the house. Overall,

The competitors through to the 1 October semi-final are: Reyer Raymond of Tarish Pit, Jerd Dorsette of Marigot, Chad Astaphan of St. Aroment, Tamika Jude of Wall House, Shamica Sorhaindo of Delices, Rachel John-Moses of Goodwill, Andesse Thomas of Picard, Desmond Clarke of Tarish Pit, Royette Laurent of Portsmouth, Khennell Maronie of Giraudel, Kishon Florent of Castle Bruce, Raheem Henderson of Eggleston, Gershon Romain of Stockfarm, Carlene Simeon of Louisville, Anderson Angol of Morne Prosper, Vernella Williams of Point Michel, Tahirah John of Trafalgar, Beyanka Moise of Pottersville, Glen Theophille of Boetica and Demian Dumas of Bioche.

Sponsors for QTS are LIME, Big Ben, Arden Sounds Party Dominica and a host of other local and patriotic sponsors.

Q95fm and lime dominica appears to be looking for their pocket for want of a better term. They are looking for contestants that will ensure that T-shirts will sell and free snacks will be available for the judges…. You all are not looking for talent…. Why was corlene eliminated. Inform the people. There’s a need for clarity and prudence

I am hearing that one of the judges were asleep during Ms. Letang’s performance and another judge is claiming that the young lady was eliminated because her panty was seen while she was dancing on stage. If these are the grounds on which this girl was cut of from the show then I think Q95 needs to re look their method of assessment and the judges should be solely persons who have an immediate background in music. Shame Shame Shame QTS

I have been following the QTS from the onset and I wish for explanations as to why corlene letang of kingshill didnot go up to the next round.
