A US based, Dominican rising star has been making himself known in the musical arena, as he recently launched his latest music video, entitled ‘Party’.
Rhett Darroux, known by his stage name, Rhettie, is an up and coming multi-talented artist who is originally from Dominica.
He recently got approval to have his music video aired on Tempo (a Jamaican based Caribbean network) and will be seen all across the world in countries such as Africa, Australasia, Japan, and the United Arab Emirates and will also be shown on the regional scene.
“I’m already at 160,000 views in 10 days,” Darroux wrote. “… A lot of people showing support even in Dominica, I need more people helping me push it,” He added.
He was brought to the United States at the age of 12 when his family moved there.
Darroux says says he always had a passion for music but started creating his art at the age of 14. Coming from a diverse cultural background, Rhettie added his island sounds to the modern day music he listens to and “creates his own mix upon music fusion, writing music that is Reggae, R&B, Pop, Reggae- ton, Hip Hop, and other mixtures of music, this is going to be something great,” he writes.
During the video, Rhettie’s flag is shown representing his “proud Dominican roots and letting others know that no matter where you are from you are capable of doing something great.”
“Were all GOD’s Children and we all deserve a chance,” he points out.
i just loved to see the Dominica flag in there …keep representing never forget ur roots
Great song, full of potential; get an artistic director though.Quick!
He is from San Sauveur and his father is from Good Hope
Dude this track is hard! It can definitely make it, but the video is YouTube quality man. I’ve seen better quality here in Dominica. I’m an advocate of the saying, “you never get a second chance to make a first impression.” So for your next project take a little more time to put it together, and get a dance choreographer for them girls.
This is dope….. This guy is serious man he is really good.. Stop being hard he is growing an developing himself.. He’s not usher with 20 years expirence and 17 albums and a major team record deal! He is a solo unsigned.. Doing is thing!
One thing I don’tunderstand is the need to place a Dominican flag in this video particularly if his is targeting an American auduence for his growth.
To me he is better off being as American as apple pie and when he gets to a point where he is a respected artist, then he can inject a Dominican flavor into his art. I don’t see the gain by being Dominican so early in his career, unless he plans to target his music to Dominicans in which case he should be singing calypso or bouyon.
and your point is, exactly what?
All i have to say is he’s handsome lol
His home town**
My friends and I listen to this song everyday, were big fans of rhettie, hope he comes back to hos home town to perform. Love you xoxo

A prophet is never honored in his ownland .bro keep doing what you doing and you going to get better and betterbetter
Thats exactly what dream killers say cochoni`;kill them before they grow but bro dont let no dream killers stop you,you will prosper in your dreams to represent your country and be proud of it too.keep up your good works you have more peoplefor you than those against you
cochoni, youth if you going to try the music ting you need more lyrics than that.
I agree!
Kool song.. Catchy with good lyrics but the video is horrible
Admin: It might help the artist if you gave him an idea of what you think is wrong with the video.
Agreed. The video was not too audible.
Hi bro that’s your sis we back home are so proud of you, you have just started and hello you gonna make it big big. Congrats bro.
You were always musically minded. I remember him making musical instruments as a boy.
Congratulations Rhett. Is that Ruby’s son from San Sauveur.
Yes it is.
Amazing! I am very proud to see this. It is hard to find artist here in the States that we genuinely enjoy. Thank you all for this
DNO, what happened to the posts on Savarin’s and Skerrit’s speech referencing Independence? I saw it earlier and now it is GONE.
Admin: I just checked and all three independence messages (president, prime minister, leader of the opposition) are still in headline positions on the Home Page. Please let us know if they’re still not appearing on your computer.
Thanks. They were gone, but are there now.
Just watched the video, not bad. I am a little prejudice though. Why is the Dominican flag on a WHITE GIRL when there was a number of BLACK GIRLS in the video? Why was the FLAG not on YOU? Do not get me wrong, it is your video so you can do whatever you want, but this was my observation.
Just saying.
Dude who gives 3 shits if the flag is on a white gyal or a black? Living in NY i personally dont care(color blind). With that being said the video isnt the best of the best, but its a good party song.
Anyways starr, keep doing your thing and don’t make haters demotivate you. Thats cbean ppl for you; these n*gg*z wanna hold you back!!
PS these chix in the video look MAD doah!
but Dominica have white people… what u trying to say nuh?
Am so proud of u baby bro ,continue striving for the best and will continue to support u .love u bro
CONGRATULATIONS! BE ALL YOU CAN BE.
I like the idea that he is making it known that he is from Dominica and also showing our flag.
I LIKE. SOUNDING REALLY GOOD. WHERE CAN I PURCHASE IT. CONGRATULATIONS
