EHS: US based Dominican artist releases new video

Rhett & cocoa teaA US based, Dominican rising star has been making himself known in the musical arena, as he recently launched his latest music video, entitled ‘Party’.

Rhett Darroux, known by his stage name, Rhettie, is an up and coming multi-talented artist who is originally from Dominica.

He recently got approval to have his music video aired on Tempo (a Jamaican based Caribbean network) and will be seen all across the world in countries such as Africa, Australasia, Japan, and the United Arab Emirates and will also be shown on the regional scene.

“I’m already at 160,000 views in 10 days,” Darroux wrote. “… A lot of people showing support even in Dominica, I need more people helping me push it,” He added.

He was brought to the United States at the age of 12 when his family moved there.

Darroux says says he always had a passion for music but started creating his art at the age of 14. Coming from a diverse cultural background, Rhettie added his island sounds to the modern day music he listens to and “creates his own mix upon music fusion, writing music that is Reggae, R&B, Pop, Reggae- ton,  Hip Hop, and other mixtures of music, this is  going to be something great,” he writes.

During the video, Rhettie’s flag is shown representing his “proud Dominican roots and letting others know that no matter where you are from you are capable of doing something great.”

“Were all GOD’s Children and we all deserve a chance,” he points out.

Dude this track is hard! It can definitely make it, but the video is YouTube quality man. I’ve seen better quality here in Dominica. I’m an advocate of the saying, “you never get a second chance to make a first impression.” So for your next project take a little more time to put it together, and get a dance choreographer for them girls. :)

One thing I don’tunderstand is the need to place a Dominican flag in this video particularly if his is targeting an American auduence for his growth.

To me he is better off being as American as apple pie and when he gets to a point where he is a respected artist, then he can inject a Dominican flavor into his art. I don’t see the gain by being Dominican so early in his career, unless he plans to target his music to Dominicans in which case he should be singing calypso or bouyon.

DNO, what happened to the posts on Savarin’s and Skerrit’s speech referencing Independence? I saw it earlier and now it is GONE.

Admin: I just checked and all three independence messages (president, prime minister, leader of the opposition) are still in headline positions on the Home Page. Please let us know if they’re still not appearing on your computer.

Just watched the video, not bad. I am a little prejudice though. Why is the Dominican flag on a WHITE GIRL when there was a number of BLACK GIRLS in the video? Why was the FLAG not on YOU? Do not get me wrong, it is your video so you can do whatever you want, but this was my observation.

    Just saying.
