Salisbury Primary School hosts Little Miss Grade Two

The competitors

On Friday, 17th February, a very excited crowd gathered at the Salisbury Primary School’s auditorium to witness the first ever, Little Miss Grade Two.

The six enthusiastic competitors graced the stage and competed in speech, talent, Sunday’s best and Best ‘in’ dress segments.

Seven-year-old Tamara John made history, when she captured the title, capturing Best Dress and Best In Dress awards.

Gracelyn Victor, seven, was the first runner-up capturing the award for best talent.

Princess-Sajah Charles secured second runner-up and the best speech award. The other hard-working competitors includes Jo-yane Williams, seven, Emeli Vargas and Hannah Letang, both eight years old.

The winner pointed out that effort and hard work can take you a long way.

The show was organised by the Grade Two teacher, Kelian Jno-Baptiste, who reported that the show was a huge success that brought tears to her eyes.

Jno-Baptiste said that although the show was planned late, about two weeks ago, she was deeply satisfied with the performances of the young competitors.

She commented that the success of the show was due to the efforts and continued support of the parents and staff including US peace corp assistant, Erin Sozanski.

The school’s principal, Burton Vidal, was very impressed and looks forward to hosting the show next year. He reported that it was a fund-raising initiative and was satisfied with the profits made.

The school body wishes to express greatest thanks and gratitude to their sponsors West Coast Co-operative Credit Union, Salisbury Enhancement Committee, Brandsmark, Jolly’s Pharmacy, Reginald Construction, Honourable Hector John, Senator Bently Royer and Ms Velma Pierre-Louis.

Congratulations to the teachers and others who assisted and also, to the winner. To the others who participated in it, you, too, are to congratulated for your concerted effort. It must have been a beautiful sight. I certainly wished I were present but I am too far away.
Teach the children well and they will surely grow up to be loving, studious and useful adults who will take their rightful place in society.
My well wishes for a future successful one next year and in the years to come.
    God bless all of you!
