
Thirty-two became 21 on Saturday night as contestants in the quarterfinal stage of the first annual Q-Talent Search sang their way to next month’s semifinals.
Hosted in the Harlem Plaza, the event featured contestants from across the island, with clear favorite Asher Thomas from Paix Bouche, opening the night with another one-off performance.
Although it was originally slated to commence at 8 p.m., the show did not start until some time before 9 p.m.
Judges included renowned local music teachers, directors, performers and songwriters. They have established themselves in their chosen fields throughout the Caribbean, North America and Europe.

The Q-Talent Search is a Q95FM Radio production, aimed at discovering Dominicans from across the island with the best singing and performing talents and provide with a medium through which they can display that talent.
Fifteen percent of the points awarded to the semifinalists to determine their selection in the next round of the competition came from fans’ text message voting.
Saturday night’s popular picks in genre included calypso, soul, R&B and gospel.
Those who made it through to the September 25 semifinal at the Harlem Plaza are:

Eleven finalists will then be chosen to compete for the coveted top spot and title of Q Talent Search winner on October23, at the same venue.
The individuals in the top four places will receive prizes ranging from EC$1,000 to EC$15,000 in cash and valuables.
I must give a round of applause to the organizers for organizing such a great talent show…finally Dominicans will be aware of the many talented young ppl we have in d country…Congratulations to Ms Kay Louisy in making it to the semi finals…rock them at the semi finals u no!!! You have a voice of a Godess….;)…..Good luck to all the other semi finalist…

Congrats to the organizers. Very good show. However, Dominican should support their own talent. Each contestant should have a full contingent of supporters. I hope that for the semis and finals more people will come out to show support. I will definitely be there.
