All systems are said to be in place for the staging of the 3rd edition of the Waraka Séwinal Festival in Atkinson on December 20-21, 2013.

The festival, which is organized by the Atkinson Village Council and the Séwinal Festival Committee, kicks off on Friday evening, December 20, with a Séwinal Splash in the Moonlight featuring a Bamboo Cannon Competition and séwinal music by Bann Akayo and other local groups. A red and white séwinal dance party at the popular Highrise Club will round up the evening’s activities.

On Saturday December 21st, the main event is the Grand Séwinal Concert and Street Party from 7.00 p.m. The Séwinal Concert features séwinal bands, steelpan, dancers and drumming ensembles. The line-up includes séwinal bands such as Layou Bits and Pieces, Bann Akayo and Piman Zozyo, as well as other local groups Karina, KTZ, Kalinago All Stars, Ti Bwa Drummers, Dancing Divas, steel pan music by Gregory Rabess, all performing traditional séwinal and popular Christmas music.

Another high point of the festival concert is the presentation of a special award to a séwinal pioneer. DIGICEL, one of the main sponsors of the festival, will also present gifts to twenty-five children and issue food hampers to ten needy families in Atkinson and the Kalinago Territory.

The festival concludes with a grand street party featuring the Swinging Stars, Halibut, Scrunter, Hunter, DJ Cut and CLUB DVD sounds.
