Six Dominican artistes will get a chance to make it big when they participate in an international audition event to be held in The Bahamas from July 13 to 19.
The Music, Model and Talent Showcase (MMTS) Conference is an exclusive event during which international agents and industry executives journey to The Bahamas to scout entertainment, acting and modeling talent from the Caribbean region.
Those attending the event are Carsim Birmingham (the youngest participant who will be attending as a singer); Nawana Shillingford as an actor, TV spokesperson and plus size model; Ian Jackson as a songwriter; Janae Jackson as a singer; Shivaugh Johnson as a petite model, TV spokesperson and actor and Ellaina ‘Lyrique’ Joseph as a songwriter and singer.
They will be leaving the island on Saturday and will audition before international record label agents and managers.
The Caribbean Performing Arts Federation (C-PAF) is a partner of MMTS and Chief Executive Director of C-PAF Regional, Irvin Durand, will be accompanying the artistes to The Bahamas.
He said the MMTS is the first event for the organization and the six delegates are expected, “to represent themselves, their product, the country…”
Meantime Vice President of C-PAF Dominica Task Force, Simeon Joseph said the event is a sign that the organization is fulfilling its roles of providing networking opportunities and exposure for Dominican artistes.
“We are happy to say that this has already begun and we have concrete realization of that where next week some of our local artistes will be going to Bahamas to participate in the MMTS,” he said.
