DBS Radio’s Felix Henderson has been explaining why he chose to focus on the elderly in his latest radio production “Sixty (60) and UP”.
Speaking with DNO, Henderson said he was first inspired by Evangelist Horris Jno Lewis to produce the programme to help shine the spotlight on the country’s senior citizens.
He says he expects the programme to touch many lives – it takes an indepth look at the lifestyle of Dominica’s older citizens, zeroing in on a number of areas including health, love, sex, and relationships.
Henderson says that while some persons were very open and anxious to speak with him especially when he addressed the topic ‘Sex’, others were very shy and he had to choose his words carefully to find out what they thought about the subject.
He also tapped into how the younger generation felt about senior citizens.
According to the radio producer, his investigations through interviews and normal casual talks taught him that persons sixty and upwards believe that this is the time of their lives when they are free of work, heavy responsibility and children, a time to enjoy themselves and their freedom.
The three-part series “60 and UP” is being aired on Tuesday 10th April to Thursday 12th April from 9:00am.
THAT WAS A VERY INAPPROPREIATE TIME TO AIR SUCH A PROGRAM IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY LIKE THAT, WHEN ALL THE KIDS ARE HOME ON HOLIDAYS. THIS SHOULD BE AIRED AFTER 9 PM. AND FELIX NEEDS TO STOP TRYING TO PUT WORDS IN THE MOUTHS OF THE FOLKS HE IS INTERVIEWING.

Those of us who feel that it is inappropriate are the very ones who give our 7 and 8 years olds access to internet. Don’t talk about what is shown on tv all day long. How much control do we have over what our kids see online? Stupes…open your minds. Our kids know more than we do.

I’ve listened to part one on DBS radio, and I dont think this program should be aired on the airwave at this early time. ’60 and Up’ is an adult program and should be played at a time suited for adults.
