Calypsonian Murphy “Sye” Jno Jules of Salisbury has won the Road March King title with his controversial ‘Dr. Finger’ tune.
“Dr. Finger” obtained quick popularity after it was banned on the Dominica Broadcasting Station (DBS), for what management feared were legal implications for the radio station. After a review of the song, DBS lawyers advised management that the calypso should not receive airtime on the station.
‘Dr. Finger’ was penned by prolific calypso writer Pat Aaron.
Sye is a police officer assigned to the Special Service Unit (SSU).
This is the second consecutive time a Salisbury calypsonian has copped the Road March crown. Last year, Lloyd “De Energizer” Wayland won with ‘Carnival is Colour
