Ten-day WCMF road show described as successful

wcmfA ten-day Caribbean Road Show geared at promoting the 17th Edition of the World Creole Music Festival (WCMF) and Dominica as a destination has been described as successful by Head of Marketing in Discover Dominica Association (DDA), Nikima Royer-Jno Baptiste.

Speaking at a WCMF weekly press conference on Wednesday morning Royer-Jno Baptiste revealed that she along with CEO of the DDA, Collin Piper, spent 10 days in 5 different islands conducting promotions.

“We started off in Antigua, following on to St Martin, then St Thomas, then St Lucia and Barbados and I have to say it was a great success,” she said. “In each one of the destinations we held a media launch for the World Creole Music Festival but we teamed it with a destination presentation in promoting the destination.”

Royer-Jno Baptiste added that in addition to that they also made visits to trade personnel and a number of different media houses to do on-air interviews.

Meantime Wadix Charles, marketing executive at the DAA, revealed that promotions in the French islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique were also successful.

Charles pointed out that a concert with some of the French artists scheduled to perform at the WCMF was held in both islands to launch the event.

“Jean Marque Ferdinand was present, Alex Alexis, and Patrice Olman sang to their hearts delight and they have promised us a great performance,” he stated. “We did quite a lot of ground work where we went from the length and breadth of Guadeloupe doing several interviews on the major mediums and also some smaller radios. The response was overwhelming and we could brace ourselves for possibly our largest attendance from the French Antillies.”

Charles called on apartment owners looking to rent their apartments to register with the Dominica Festival Committee.

The WCMF ticket road show will continue this weekend at Chez Wutang in Grandbay on Saturday 5th October.

WCMF will also see the 2nd Friday Dwivay on Friday 4th October.

DDA should tell us what percentage of the people from the countries visited participate in the WCMF last year and based on their allege successful promotion they should give an indication of the percentage increase expected for this year.

thats pure waist of Money,,the the money spent for travel and accommodation could pay for an additional act or performer ,,,In this day and age ppl dont have to travel to have a media lunch or promotion of that nature,,U all are Not aware of Radio link up, u could have weekly or daily media lunch right here in Dominica with any radio or tv station around the world,,Stop wasting money that Dominica does not have,,

Waste of money and resources…These ppl in the DDA enjoy taking joy rides and spending nights in fancy hotels claiming that they are promoting the island. How do you evaluate that these road shows were successful??? How many tickets did you all sell during these road shows??? Its all a waste of money in my opinion. There are alot more avenues that would have a greater reach than these island hops every year.

How many tickets were sold on the tour? Ticket sale is the only indicator of how successful the tour was at this time. Otherwise, we will have to wait until the event to make such a claim. I guess if you stayed at nice hotels and enjoyed some good food and had fun that’s a whole different story… lol. I wish the DDA all the success.

Why would you say its a great failure ? You dont know the value until the numbers of people for the Festival are known.

In the meantime you just did some island hopping.
