Ticket sales for WCMF have doubled – Clarke-Meade

Clarke-Meade

With just three weeks before the World Creole Music Festival (WMCF) Dominica Festivals Committee (DFC) Events Coordinator Natalie Clarke-Meade has reported that sales for the event have doubled to this point as compared to last year.

She thanked the public for its support and stated that the DFC’s early execution of plans has borne much fruit and the final preparations for the 15th edition of the WCMF are underway.

Meade said, “This year, the DFC has a clearly stated aim and overall purpose which we sought to execute very early and have so far successfully stuck to all those timelines developed for this purpose this year. As DFC goes through its final checklist, specific to all functional areas, the venue, the audience, the ambiance, the vending needs, media management, safety and security, artistes hospitality  and the sponsor promises, we really look forward to giving the general public a special 15th edition.  I know that people have really sat up and taken notice of what we are doing this year because of the ticket sales, which have double to date from last year at this time. And I want to thank the patrons for supporting the special $250 sale.”

DFC Dep. Director Sobers Esprit (right) and Digicel Country Manager Richard Stanton sign sponsorship contracts

Deputy Director of the DFC Sobers Esprit has indicated that the committee is ready for the Festival’s staging and that the efforts of last year have been doubled as the WCMF promises perhaps a balance line-up.

“We are hearing that the vibes has been positive that people are really looking forward to this year’s WCMF and I think the basis of that is that they love the line-up, probably one of the most balanced line-ups ever and the quality of the production, a lot of work [having] gone into the production over the last six months. We [must contact] our friends throughout the Caribbean, throughout North America, in Europe and where ever they may be , tell them to join us. We cannot overemphasize the fact that festival tourism is very important to Dominica. The sustaining of this festival is very important for us. And that’s why this year we have doubled our efforts,” Esprit stated.

This year’s WCMF line up is as follows:

Night 1-Friday 28th October:

Kolo Barst
Ali Campbell – The legendary voice of UB40
Jeff Joseph and Grammacks New Generation
WCK.

Night 2-Saturday 29th October:

Ali Campbell if he does perform will never play for 2 hrs…
just 1hr 25mins…..you have to take in consideration its not the Band UB40 where they have other memebers like Astro, Earl and Norman who either sing songs or do toasting on certain UB40 songs.

and it would be better to have CK close that night period, as Top Acts like Ali Campbell dont like closing gigs at 2am and downward etc..its a tired period in most cases…

international gigs close off at 11pm ish for the lastest,,,and Prime time in showbiz isnt the norm for late hrs of gig time…bear that in mind…

Hi, WCMF promoter I am coming to the festival with four of my co-workers from New York but we cannot purchased tickets online. I will be very disappointed if I come to Dominica but cannot attend the festival because of ticket issue. Please tell me how can I secure tickets. (Love from NY).

If there is any negative comment or dislike I will hold off on my reasoning for my line up. But if I were to get 10 postive comment and or like…I will allow the WCMF committee tap into my entertainment strategies and thereby increasing revenues.

this line up isnt attractive for a world event….way to dull in my view..

too many recycled acts, pieces of bands really nothing to pull even the dead from the cemetry to arise in my view..

        in all its too common!!

as far as i’m concern triple kay should play from 8-8:15 so by that time they cant say much..it’s time that band on an occasion like this practice to play compass, zouk, cadas and more instead of move to the left and right every jam and screaming instead of singing.not good enough..that’s y they’re not improving at all.learn from the best swinging stars, wck, fanatik and others. feduo with you guys.u contd to keep patrons away.

YOU GUYS SHOULD KNOW NO THAT AT NO TIME A REGGAE BAND SHOULD CLOSE A FESTIVAL..NONSENSE..

  8. October 6, 2011

THE TICKET FOR THE WORLD CREOLE MUSIC FESTIVAL IS TO EXPENSIVE,THE WCMF SHOULD HAVE A TICKET PRICE FOR THE YOUNG PEOPLE WHO WANT TO GO TO THE THREE BIG NIGHTS SHOWS,And festival will make more money. We need to see more of our bands playing in the creole festival,It is a dominica show.WHEN PEOPLE COME DOWN THEY WANT TO HEAR OUR MUSIC.

WCMF sales have doubled at this time compared with last year thats interesting…
we will surely hold them accountable at the end of the events to see if they have broke even or suffered a loss or upper profit..

im from the rural area and dont feel the buzz or vibe of the fest indeed..just think of it as nothing to show about line up.

quite possible their could be a drop out along the way in term of a act not showing up on the bill…keeping fingers crossed!

in the end good luck to WCMF..but you will be cross exmained at the end of the event!

Ticket sales have doubled. Good! So how about online sales? still no mention of this at all! We don’t even know if it will happen in the future. Ask friends around the region to join us. Sure. And yet, they can’t secure tickets online. I wonder if we will ever get a worthy answer on that.

      October 6, 2011

I am sorry but Nasio Fontaine has no one to blame but himself (or his promoter). The man not in anything at all lately?!? One of my friends emailed his contact on his webpage and no response. All kind of little reggae shows all over and not one performance? The last time the man release an album was 2007. I myself love Nasio and his kind of music but he either has to fire his promoter or something man. I am fed up!

i think it have more ti do with the special prices than the line up. so maybe you all should consider leaving the price around that level and get a bumper crowd.
