Tight security for CITP

Law enforcement officials said security will be heightened at the 10th Annual LIME Creole in the Park (CITP) scheduled for October 22nd – October 25th

Police Superintendent Yvonne Alexander told a press conference Thursday, patrons should also take charge of their security.

“We have instances where individuals seem to turn a blind eye to certain event that occurs. Major events create a climate where there can be pickpocketing and robbery,” she said.

Alexander said there will be a uniformed police presence in the gardens during the show.

“During the earlier part of the event, patrons will see police officers in uniforms. However as it becomes darker, there will be an appearance of more officers to ensure that the patrons are safe,” she said.

She also revealed access into the Botanical Gardens, where the event is being staged, and nearby roads will be reduced.

Meantime Superintendent Einsworth Irish says lawlessness will not be tolerated at Creole in the Park.

“Police officers will be there readily available in uniforms to ensure that the security will be conducted in such a way to prevent unwanted behavior,” he said.

He noted that there is no perceived threat of any disturbance in Dominica for that moment but security will be at an all time high.

The superintendent also called for patrons to be properly dressed.

Car-pooling to minimize the number of traffic coming into the Botanical Gardens was also suggested by the police.

The Dominica Police Force if made up of four Superintendents. David Andrew and Yvonne Alexander are two of them. So if Ainsworth Irish is acting, that will make it three.

Children do have parents, friends attend with friends and adults attend with their girl and boyfriends. They all attend to view the acts on stage and eat good food. What then is the purpose of leaving ones home with a weapon. People we need to change that culture or else we will continue to read sad headlines and parents who always think that their children are innocent and saints dont wait to get that sad phonecall, the disciplining of your children and proper behavior of your children at these events is not the job of the police or lime. Girlfrends advise your boyfriends or stay home, and their are girls who carry the weapons for ther gangster boyfriends look out for them also. Why you want to steal someone else’s cellular is that worth your freedom or reputation? Why you want to start a fight with sone other guy over a problem three years old? Do you have a formula to get out of Lynhrst Deep Freeze and walk again??Think about those few lines. Peace.

Dress properly! What do you mean by that? As long as I am not in my birthday suit, and I am not wearing combat fatigue clothes, I will put whatever pleases me. If you want me to dress according to your specification, then give me clothes to wear..!!!!!

All I can say, is CITP gonna need tight security when there is Automatic weapons all over the island and the guys who have them staying out of jail for a few dollars. I hope you have a safe Creole season but I see the potential for disaster. Gangsters rampant on that little island. How people supposed to feel safe?

    Shouldn’t that be Ainsworth Irish.
It was not necessary to overshadow Ms Alexander.

Why does Mr. Irish have reiterate what Yvonne Alexander said? Is it for us to remember he is Superintendent of Police? I think Ms Alexander clearly stated the purpose for discharge of the police.

Boy all u can make stupid comments eh. THEY WERE BOTH AT THE PRESS CON. They were both asked to speak. They would have spoken along the same lines of safety and the fact that the police would this year tighten security at the event.

Would you have preferred if he had contradicted her?

Thank you! thats my point. But if it does not have row-row some are never happy. If and when trouble starts and the call goes out for all on deck to report there will be no “BS” talk of over shadowing. Typical Dummy- in-a can.

No they do not. They wrap themselves in dry fig bush. Therefore we can say “yes they do.” You can still call that a uniform because they all do it.
