Dominicans are invited to have their say in the first ever Mr. Dominica scheduled for Friday, February 10 2012 at the Arawak House of Culture.
Through LIME, the premier sponsors of the show, the public will get a chance to vote for the title of Mr. Photogenic. Persons simply have to text the FIRST NAME of the contestant to 2269 for a chance to win $50 TopUp.
Voting ends at midday on February 10. The contestant with the most votes will be announced Mr. Photogenic on the night of the Show.
Contestants listed in the order of appearance are Shanna Robin, Bram Sanderson, Ghandi Robin, Augustus Bruno, Kester Edwards, Nigel Peters and Lennard Panthier. Photos of the contestants are below.
Thirty-year old Shanna Robin is from the village of Marigot and resides at Copthall. He is a teacher at the Isaiah Thomas Secondary School, the franchise holder for the Purple Dragon Academy and holds a 3rd degree black belt. Shana obtained an Associate Degree in Architectural Design from the Dominica State College and loves reading motivational books and motivational speaking.
Bram Sanderson is the youngest contestant. At 19 years old, he says “there’s never a dull moment with Bram.” He considers himself to be energetic and outgoing, always seizing opportunities to do new things, meet new people and see new places. Bram is passionate about sports and is a member of the Young Veterans Volleyball Team and the Aspirers Athletic Club. He has represented Dominica at the National Under-23 Level in basketball and athletics.
Ghandi Robin is representing the community of Canefield. He started learning Shotokan Karate at the age of seven under the tutelage of his father who was an accomplished black belt instructor. This was the beginning of his interest in different forms of martial arts and physical activity, including break-dancing. He began dancing seriously at the age of 15 and has since danced with the Waitukubuli Dance Theatre and just returned from Martinique where he participated in an international hip hop festival. Ghandi is 22 years old.
Augustus is the fourth of seven children. He is 28 years old and lives in the community of Fond Cole. Taking pride in helping others makes Augustus happy and he has volunteered his services at many NGO’s and charitable organizations. Fashion is his passion and one of his clothing lines was used in a pageant for young ladies in St. Lucia. He has worked with Signature Fashion Modeling Agency as a manager, designer and model and hopes to have his own clothing store in Dominica offering elegant and affordable couture.
Kester Edwards lives on Jolly Lane in Goodwill and loves to make people laugh. He is 26 years old and says he was born “2 days after the first week in January, which is the 9th.” He entered his first modeling show – Teen talent – at the age of 15 and “ever since wondered why there was no competition for Dominican men to show the country and the world what we can do on stage.” Kester works at the Princess Margaret Hospital.
Twenty-six year old Nigel Peters grew up on Bath Road in Roseau to the sounds of calypso from the great ‘NC’, so music has always been his passion. He has participated in several local song competitions and wants Dominicans to regain the pride that they once had in their country so that the nation can reclaim its cultural identity.
Lennard Panthier is 20 years old. He was born in Portsmouth and currently lives in Shawford. He has a deep love for culture and the cultural arts and has been a member of the Portsmouth Cultural Group for the last 11 years. It is his dream to work in a field where he can assist the elderly, less fortunate and abandoned. His motto is: With God, there is always a better tomorrow.

Good luck to all the guys, I know most of you, and each of you have great personalities in yall own way. I look forward to seeing this show, especially the talent and interview rounds. Hold your heads up high and may the best guy win. Fellow Dominicans let us see these guys for the talented young individuals they are and stop the negativity. Now, the show organizers should have arraged for a set of photos to be shot of the delegates (contestants sound so efeminate), rather than the guys digging up old pix from their folders. A couple of the pix even appear touched up. In one pix the guy portrays a sort of thuggish attitude.

u all should stop this negativity about those guys this is more a talent show like other countries like st kitts n nevis where i currently reside they have a show call mr kool and its the same format as this one .You dominicans too low minded need to go travel and see life outthere no wonder development here is so slow. whilst i will agree that one or two might look somehwhat questionable to each his own just support the guys and keep ur negative comments to yourselves .so many guys in dominica who say they r thugs or having girlfrens or wives living doubke standard lives please grow the f@@@ up and look at the lives of ur family a sister ,a brother or relative who might be doing otherwise for the same thing some of us cry down are the very same things we do or entertain by thom we called a close fren or relative God forbid small minded people check urselves and go develop ur life and that of ur country .

If you on your high horse as you say the show is “just wrong”, may I take the time to remind and enlighten your “little pea brain” that the following are very wrong, yet I don’t hear you and others shouting from the top of your voices:

COVETOUSNESS-: An envious eagerness to possess things that others have.

WICKEDNESS:- Evil by nature and practice, morally objectionable behaviour.
WIFE/HUSBAND BEATING-: Domestic violence, also known as domestic/spousal
abuse.
CHILD MOLESTERS/ABUSERS/PEADOPHILES -: Adults engaging in perverse sexual activity with children for their gratification.
THIEF:- Person who steals another person’s property.
LIAR:- A person who lied or tells lies repeatedly.
ENVY:- A feeling of resentful longing aroused by someone else’s possessions, qualities or luck.
These are just a few that I’ve mentioned as the list goes on and on. Stop tormenting these guys and getting this twisted, leave the young men alone as they are participating in a harmless show, and not committing any crimes or hurting anyone.
What is your contribution towards your island’s cultural upliftment and advancement? They are certainly making there own individual contributions to this.
Dominiche’ you have choices in life, if you don’t like the idea of the show or the participants, then don’t read about it, don’t listen to the radio/tv about it and don’t attend the show……END OF.

I don’t think these are good pictures to judge on……………..some of these pics look like long time they remove them. they should place these young men by a river,sea or something on the same day thennnnnn it will be a great choice to pick Mr.Photogenic. they should a least have a photo shot.
