“Women Can Lie” to hit St. Thomas

Woman Can Lie, A Caribbean Comedy Play  by Alex Bruno will be staged in St. Thomas, USVI, this weekend.

Teyat Pawol will present its latest production to audiences at the BCB Middle School Auditorium in Bovoni, St. Thomas on November 17 from 8:00 p.m and again on November 18  at 6:00 p.m.

Woman Can Lie exposes questionable dealings of selected females, focusing on a  character named Beth, who chooses to deceive men and cheat her way around several relationships.  Woman Can Lie examines the crimes of infidelity carried out in covert, but painful ways by women, to unsuspecting men.

Artistic Director/Writer is Alex Bruno, a role he has played with the group from its inception. “We experimented with that topic and discovered so much more than we bargained for.  The topic of ‘lies’ became an instant talking point and we were bombarded with practical examples supporting similar infractions on the part of the woman.  Yes, ‘men really do lie’, but we discovered that woman ‘can’ lie even better. We decided to put out our findings in the form of a play,” he said.

The lead role, a character named Beth, a female in her 30’s, is played by Rashida Gachette, one of Dominica’s leading actressesof experience .  Rashida has well over 30 years in the arts and she is the longest serving actor in the group.

The exciting student actress, 16-year-old Kimarah Laurent plays Rhonda, a young lady in her 20’s who is Beth’s distant relative.  Fefe,  in her 40’s (Beth’s best friend) is played by Margaret Gustave who is in her second production with Téyat Pawol.

Chelsey McInnis, a teen acting sensation plays Octavia, a self righteous woman in her 30’s.  The veteran Emile Serrant plays Pastor Moore, a ‘Pastor’ in his 50’s.  Serrant is a well known Caribbean Community organizer, based in Florida, and is an absolutely funny, larger-than-life personality.

The versatile Mickael Ferrol plays Beth’s trusted and blind boyfriend Rudy.

The play is performed by an all Caribbean cast and is presented by Téyat Pawol, a drama group which was established in Florida over a decade ago.
