A flood watch is in effect for Dominica from 6pm Saturday 21st October to 6am Sunday 22nd October. A flood watch means that flooding is possible within the watch area during the time period.
Moisture and instability trailing hurricane Tammy will continue to generate unstable conditions across the region. Generally cloudy conditions with scattered light to moderate showers and isolated thunderstorms are possible. People in areas prone to flooding, landslides and falling rocks should be on the alert.
At 5pm, Hurricane Tammy was located latitude 17.0 north and longitude 61.3 west about 50 miles north of Guadeloupe. Tammy is expected to continue moving north northwestward bringing strong winds, moderate to heavy rainfall and flooding to portions of the Lesser Antilles.
A small craft warning and a high surf advisory are in effect. Small craft operators are advised to remain in port and to secure vessels. Sea bathers are advised to stay out of the water. Northerly swells are expected to continue affecting the west coast tonight and into tomorrow. Residents are advised to exercise caution and stay tuned for updated information provided by the Met Office.
