Just about one week after a flood which caused severe damage to property of individuals residing in Newtown and Loubiere, one youth group will try to assist five affected families in that area.
Speaking to Dominica News Online on Monday morning Coordinator of Youth on a Mission for God, Ellen Paul, explained that following the flood, her group took to the streets and visited affected individuals.
“It’s just about 4 days after the flood and the lives of individuals are still not back to normal. On Saturday 28th December 2013, I visited 2 families at Loubiere and 3 at Newtown. These photos barely show the living conditions of those affected by the flood.”
According to her, the group will attempt to raise the funds and purchase supplies which the families will need for their recovery.
“Kids lost all uniforms and school supplies. One little 3 year old’s excitement to start her first day at Charlotte’s Nursery Pre-school was dampened because she lost all her school clothing. One woman showed me the stove that she now uses to cook which leaves much to be desired.”
Paul noted that on Saturday 4th January 2014 from 8:00am, Youth on a Mission for God will team up with Matt on Q95 to raise funds through pledges from the public. The money will go toward addressing the most immediate needs to include school books and supplies, bed, mattresses, school uniforms, stove, clothing items of the families affected by the storm.
““I spoke to Courts and they are willing to give us some sort of discount. They are willing to partner with us. We will also be outside of Courts so that people can come and bring in some financial donations.”
We solicit your partnership in assisting these families to get their lives to a level of normalcy.
She added further that during the last Friday of February the group intends to organize a dinner and dance with a live band which will also be used to raise funds.Paul noted that they will be seeking sponsorship for that event.
The Youth on a Mission for God group was formed in 2009 and is a non denominational youth group whose mission is to create solutions to life’s problems. The group raised funds towards relief efforts for Haiti following the earthquake in 2010.
Dominicans like to praise themselves eh…..
In times of crisis these are the types of blogs DNO is posting .REALLY
What’s wrong with what DNO is posting? Are you this dumb? That’s the season we are in. It’s a season where lives were affected and people NEED help. It’s the season of Christmas where we speak of loving, giving and receiving yet you chose to be bitter. In a season like this; is this the BEST you can say? Heartless one.
Do you see any praise in here? It’s a national crisis that NEEDS worldwide support for the victims and that’s the best you can think? Shame on you hater
Youth on a Mission for God will team up with Matt on Q95.

Please remove the veil from your eyes. Not everyone is consumed with partisan politics. Is this the way you encourage the youth? Have you not read that Courts is a partner/sponsor?

Cuddos to the young people. Too many times people cry down the youth. But I personally have encountered many inspiring young Dominicans and love reading stories like this one.
