A technical consultation for the Joint Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Fund was recently held in Dominica which aimed to contribute to resilient livelihoods and food security through data, digitalization, and sectoral linkages.
The consultation for the Joint SDG Fund was organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
It is a two-year Joint Programme that will draw on the power of data, information systems, and sectoral linkages to mitigate the impacts of climate change and related shocks at the household, community, and national levels, promote and protect food security, livelihoods, and strengthen resilience in a gender-responsive manner.
The project was implemented in Dominica and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. It was held on Monday, November 28, 2022, at the Fort Young Hotel Roseau, Dominica.
“During the consultation, stakeholders discussed ways to build the resilience of farmers, fishers, and vulnerable people, system and institutional capacity improvement of the agriculture and social protection sectors in a risk-informed manner and their linkages, also alignment with government’s ongoing and/or planned projects/initiatives,” FAO stated in a press release.
Other collaborators include the World Food Programme (WFP), and the Ministry of Blue and Green Economy, Agriculture, and National Food Security, with oversight from the Resident Coordinator Office.
