First Entrepreneurship and Innovation HUB in Dominica kicks off October 4

The Office of the Prime Minister, Ministry of Trade, Commerce, Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Business and Export Development, the Organization of American States (OAS), and the Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce (DAIC) are hosting the first-ever Dominica Entrepreneurship and Innovation HUB Workshop (EIHUB) for Young Entrepreneurs. The objective of this workshop is to provide Entrepreneurs with the support and knowledge they need to manage and run profitable and resilient business enterprises.

The first phase of the EIHUB will consist of a one-week foundational program to be held from October 4-9th, 2020 at the Jungle Bay Eco-Resorts in Soufriere for 33 young Dominican entrepreneurs. The program will feature presentations and practical sessions from mentors and experts who will address fundamental concepts of business development, innovation, resilience, digital transformation, and technology. Following the week of activities, participants will continue to receive support and mentorship through targeted sessions with special emphasis on further developing their project concepts and business interests.

The opening ceremony of the on-site workshop on Monday, October 5th from 9:00 AM, will feature the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Hon. Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit, OAS Executive Secretary for Integral Development, Kim Osborne, and President of the Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce, Stephen Lander. The sessions during the workshop will include presentations from the University of California at Riverside (UCR) which provides entrepreneurial education and start up formation support to help businesses grow.

The EIHUB will be supported by contributions from all partners to include the Office of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Trade, Commerce, Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Business and Export Development, the Organization of American States (OAS), and the Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce (DAIC).

This partnership will seek to capture key benefits for building the capacity of local business to drive economic activity and will include content and resources that address important components of entrepreneurial education and innovation for business development and continued growth towards digital transformation and resilience.

I suspect Skerrit will give advice on international banking…! He does not know about anything else.

Any venture that Mr. Skerrit announces one should be highly skeptical. This man, as a leader, is the World’s Greatest Liar with Donald Trump a distant second.

Imagine the leader of a country goes before a global audience and accused the Opposition leaders of staging a coup d’état to overthrow him. That was the most serious false accusation against any national ever. This man is the FATHER of false assertions.

This announcement about training for entrepreneurs is a nice sounding gimmick. The purchasing power of many thousands of residents is scandalously weak. What the economy needs at this juncture is an infusion of CBI monies, incentives and a great stimulus package to resurrect it from its lifeless state.

“The objective of this workshop is to provide Entrepreneurs with the support and knowledge they need to manage and run profitable and resilient business enterprises’.

Ladies and gentlemen, when you see the office of the prime minister (Roosevelt Skerrit) or any ministry in the cabinet of Roosevelt Skerrit is behind anything, no for sure that the real objective and outcome is something sinister, something corrupt, something enveloped in more lies, more hypocrisy and deception. I challenge anyone to show forth fruits of the success of any such propaganda, the last 16 years of this very corrupt Roosevelt Skerrit.

No matter how good it looks and sounds, in the mind of the government that’s the only objective. Over the past 15 years of Skerrit we have come to understand that everything this government does is corrupt and Skerrit’s of diverting and distributing money to his supporters. There is never a plan for future growth or development and most importantly, accountability is never required. So I have seen the above movie before and this time it is just being played on a different stage.

Skerrit suffers from an incurable disease – Liabetes. His main objective at present is to distract from his taxpayer funded $64 300 monthly burden on the depleted treasury for the palatial fortress he now occupies.

To put on a workshop for young entrepreneurs when such a large swathe of the Dominican population spending power is so significantly reduced, jobs are scarce like water in the Sahara Desert, and the economy is lifeless is just a practical joke.

Dominicans have to boot Skerrit from office for progress to be realized. The longer a leader stays in power the more corrupt and dictatorial he becomes. Politicians are like diapers they have to be changed frequently.
