The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force has launched an investigation into the death of a 31- year-old Fond Cani man.
On June 19, 2023, Jason Rabess was the ill-fated victim of a fatal road traffic accident.
Police sources say the HRV vehicle, in which the deceased was a passenger, was driving in a westerly direction when the driver lost control and plummeted off the road.
During the accident, Rabess is said to have been flung from the vehicle and sustained serious head injuries.
He was pronounced dead on the scene. The other occupants of the vehicle escaped with minor injuries.
Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing into a stabbing incident at Pichelin on June 20, 2023.
Dominica News Online (DNO) has been informed that following an altercation between two Pichelin men, one of them sustained serious wounds to his right forearm and the right side of his face.
The incident occurred in the vicinity of the Pichelin basketball court and the community center. The victim is now a patient at the Dominica China Friendship Hospital (DCFH) while the other individual involved in the incident is currently in police custody.
DNO will continue to follow this story and provide more information as it becomes available.
I am assuming that he was not wearing his seat belt!!
If the above is true, could it be that if he,(Rabess), was wearing a seat belt, he would not have been flung out of the HRV???
Hmmmmmmmmm those devices are for a purpose, but almost 100% of Dominican drivers ignore the seat belt…Does the country have traffic police?
Lots of deaths on this island though!
R I P!!
Yea they started the seat belt thingy once but as usual with DA too show too flam..always when something happen they putting rules and after two weeks back to the norm.
You only get thrown out of a vehicle when you are not using your seatbelt. For a country that does not have the most advanced facilities to take care of serve trauma, you would think people would be extra careful about their health and safety, but their behavior is the exact opposite.
When you think you are too macho to wear a seatbelt that is what sometimes happens when the car in which you are traveling is involved in a crash.
It might sound heartless, but I can hardly shed a tear for these idiots who put their safety and lives in danger when they refuse to use the seatbelts that were installed to protect them.
