Eleven individuals and one group from St Joseph were recognized for their contributions towards community development at the 2nd Annual (St. Joseph) Awards Ceremony held on Thursday at Mathew’s Hall.

Parliamentary Representative for the St. Joseph constituency, Kelver Darroux, said the role each individual played is of equal importance.

“I must say that the role that each and every one of you has played in ensuring that St. Joseph can be a more productive place; in ensuring that St. Joseph can be a more successful community; in ensuring our children can have an education; in ensuring that our commuters to various parts of the island have transportation; in ensuring that our families can be fed; in ensuring that our community can be represented on a national level, each and every one of you the role that you have played is of equal importance,” Darroux said.

Darroux also commended the awardees for a job well done in bringing development to the community and people of St. Joseph.

“I say that my dear friends, because having a love for your community and being involved in the development of your community is a very serious undertaking. The community of St. Joseph, the residents of St. Joseph should not take for granted the role that each and every one of you as an awardee this evening has played and in some cases continue to play, to ensure that this community St. Joe City remains a very vibrant and productive community,” he said.

Congratulations to all of you. For your concern and hard work you do deserve an award. Keep it up and help build up St. Joseph. It is one of the places in D/ca which is dear to my heart. I have relatives in St. Joseph. I recognized two family names. When I resided in D/ca I would often visit St. Joseph. I always visit there when I am home. Therefore, know that I am proud of your achievement and that you are rewarded for it. With your help, one day, may St. Joseph be one of the models and envy of Dominica. :)
    God bless!
