The Alliance Francaise, the French Consular Agency, the French community in Dominica and friends of France would like to express their moral support for the families of the 12 victims and 4 seriously injured persons working at the French magazine CHARLIE HEBDO in Paris.
The outrageous massacre took place on Wednesday 7th January 2015 at the headquarters of the satirical magazine.
The gunmen took the lives of famous journalists, cartoonists and policemen. It is an alarming attack on the freedom of the press, freedom of expression and therefore a threat to democracy .
Charlie Hebdo’s guiding principles are: “THE PEN IS MIGHTIER THAN THE SWORD”…and “FREEDOM IS A UNIVERSAL RIGHT”.
Thus, in Dominica, we also rally the worlwide slogan of solidarity:
#WE ARE CHARLIE, #NOU SE CHARLIE, #NOUS SOMMES CHARLIE
Jesus taught us that a tree is known by the kind of fruit it bears.
He also said ”Love those who persecute you. Do good to them who despitefully use you.”
Jesus demonstrated this in His own life when He hung on the cross praying for those who had crucified Him ”Father forgive them for they know not what they do.”
The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ is a God of love.
Yet, these terrible acts of violence taking the lives of thousands of people from 9-11 are all being done by religious zealots who tell us about another God – a God we don’t know. They shout ”God is great” and say they do all things for his glory. Yet we see nothing in the practice of these people that would make us believe in or serve such a God!
The more zealous people are for a false God the more hateful and murderous they are towards those who disagree with them.

To the Muslim Communities all over the world who do not support these extremists please hold your head up high and continue to be a part of the communities where you live.
