British Army seeks recruits from Commonwealth states

LONDON, Sept. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Commonwealth nationals may now apply for a number of specialist roles in the British Army thanks to new rules introduced by the government.

Dominica is part of the Commonwealth.

The British Army has welcomed soldiers from Commonwealth countries for many years; however, under previous rules people could only join if they had lived in the UK for five years.

Commonwealth nationals will now be able to apply for positions including Medical Technician, Logistic Supply Specialist, Chef, Vehicle Mechanic, Metalsmith and Gunner Logistics Specialist.

General Chris Tickell, General Officer Commanding, Army Recruiting and Training Division, said: “We are delighted that key roles have been opened up to people from across the Commonwealth who are non-resident in the UK. The service given by soldiers from Commonwealth countries helps the Armed Forces to defend the UK at home and abroad, and we look forward to welcoming more Commonwealth recruits following the introduction of the new regulations.”

A specialist commonwealth recruiter spokesperson said: “We’re looking for candidates that are physically fit, can communicate well in both written and spoken English and can self-fund travel to the UK to attend one of the Army development and selection centres. Full details of the Army recruitment and selection process can be found on the Army website at http://www.army.mod.uk.”

For more information about how people from the Commonwealth can apply for the Army without UK residency, visit http://www.army.mod.uk/join/commonwealth_joiners.aspx.

Hi! Greetings my able people. This is a very great opportunity for young people to engage themselves in something fruitful. The British army is one of the best in the world, known for it’s reputation. Joining this army will have a lot to contribute to the moral status of young people

Do not listen to those ignorant, low self esteem trolls. Take the opportunity to serve. You might never get this kind of opportunity again. I did make that mistake when Cuba was recuiting students from Dominica to study in Cuba for free. I heard some people did the same when America was offering amnesty. Go for it young people. Think about your future, and the future of your family. At the end of the day it is your future. Do what you think is best for you.

why is it so obvious that the uk is recruiting soldiers particularly from the commonwealth, this because the army is running out of soldiers and is looking for almost anyone with the capability to do so. they dont really care, yes its a great opportunity for dominicans to go for but this one is not trust me. i work for people who who work for the un security council and i advice no one to fall for this opportunity.

12% of soldiers who returned from the war in England are homeless, sick and disabled…Take that for a lesson.Charities is England are making demands from the public in order to buy false limbs ,pay house rents and medicine in order to help these soldiers. Many rape cases both concerning men and women have been reported and not one person got any form of satisfaction from the gov’t;which led to suicides by many victims.England ruined Dominica of it’s agriculture and labor work ;when they couldn’t find any thing else to take they accepted to give Dominica it’s independence. No factory received any form of maintenance during the period that Dominica was a British colony. This is not a good invitation at all for Dominicans..Many parents here in U.K are taking the gov’t to court for due to the death, rape and torture of their children..A large number are suffering from post traumatic disorder(mental issue) …

I think this is a great opportunity for all young Dominican male or female ,if I was younger I would be the first one inline , there is nothing in Dominica for young folks why not give it a try ? the only thing I don’t like is you have to pay your own passage, there should be a way where the Brits can work some think out where the brits pay the people passage who enlist . I would like to encourage all young Dominican who is of age to go for it , what do you have to lose ? there is nothing here on the Island for young people, you not gonna go to war every politician now is afraid to go to war, look out for your future, and stop listening to the nay Sayers and go make a future for yourself , and make your Mama proud. I spend four years in the U.S Army and those was my best four years now am back home retired and enjoying it.

The things is , England has a white population problem according to them , so non-British people are sent to fight and white the British people stay in England, in 50 years time they might just make up a sizable majority again.
So these British folks have anterior motives for they pretend gestures. These people don’t do any thing to benefit others.
Think my people and don’t fall for another calculated effort to take our labor to benefit them. “Again?”

DNO,your article is not entirely correct. Between 1998 and 2006 the British armed forces recruited directly from the Caribbean island by visiting those island amnd holding something called the BARBER test ams physical test. As a former Britidh soldier I am quite aware of this.
I have read the comments on here about this opportunity that had been presentedand its mostly negative.
I would urge anyone and everyone to apply if they are able to. It is am opportunity of a lifetime. Hit me up on Facebook if you have any questions and I will gladly help you out with any queries or concerns

trap trap trap… that how they used so called Indian soldiers to subjugate Indians and African soldiers to subjugate Africans, while they were officers in the military and the very people they sought to subjugate were drivers, chefs, infantry men and spies.
trap trap trap, if they will not join your army and train you and provide the type for support they give to other European partners in terms of vehicles, engineering, flight training, Naval training real knowledge… then hell no! this is a very underhanded idea, their is no pride in serving in the Army of another country.
let them fight their wars Caribbean countries are not warlike, we have friends not enemies. also there is no such thing as commonwealth states, commonwealth countries yes, because they are all independent nations.
Puerto Rico and US virgin Islands are commonwealth states in the US because they are not independent countries.

If they were offering other positions, they would include them to entice your *ss. Shut your mouth and think! Your dog breath is choking me.

  35. Yes, the name of the country is “The Commonwealth of Dominica.” We must also remember Dominica, is an Independent Republic Country, with Savarin as its President. We do not have a governor residence in Dominica reporting to the so called British Monarchy Elizabeth.

So are we part of the British Commonwealth, such as Canada, Barbados, the rest of the Windward & Lewardislands which has a governor reporting to Elizabeth, who is the head of the British Commonwealth of Nations. Guyana, Trinidad, Dominica are Independent Republics. I do not believe we are part of the British Commonwealth. I do not know for sure, but if we are that means that independent nations such as India, and the United States might just be members of the British Commonwealth, we know however, that the United States is not part of the British Commonwealth of Nations!

    • Joseph
      September 8, 2016

You are totally confused. Research your concerns before commenting.

      • That is the beauty of communicating! I stated my case as I believe to be correct; if I am wrong tell me how I happen to be wrong. Tell me how do yo come you know for a fact that Dominica is part of the British Commonwealth.

Hint; Elizabeth, is Canada’s head of State, the same as the other Caribbean islands I mentioned, with the exception of Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, and Dominica, which as I said are Independent Republics, as in Dominica’s case Charles Savarin is President of the country. He has to sign his name to any tabled law in the country before it can become effective.

Unlike, the islands with Governors representing the so called queen Elizabeth, who to date is head of the members of the British Commonwealth. Any law written on the islands with a governor, the queen representative has to be signed by the governor “as if it was the queen herself who signed it into law.” The prime ministries of those countries do not sign anything into law.

        Now, you research that and…

      • Now, you research that and be bold and brave to give me a feed back on your findings! The difference between me and people like you is that; I write what I know or believe to be true; whereas, people like you write a one line sentense with nothing to substantiate you three word comment!

Prove me wrong with anything written in Dominica’s constitution which states that “Dominica shall be a member of the British Commonwealth, or is part of the British Commonwealth. When you can produce such evidence then you will be at liberty to insult me as much as you wish, until then just shut up; shut your mouth!

        Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

In 1995 thier was a volcanic eruotion in Montserrat. A tiny British colony. The island was near destrction. Why did the brits did not come evacuate the darn country to england. Let them go fight thier darn unjust wars. Parents educate your kids. As long as we a seen as less of a human and as long as idiots bow to a queen who shit like me, eat like me, get sick like me and will die like me we will always be slaves . “The British Government has announced that the inhabitants of the Caribbean island of Montserrat could stay in Britain indefinitely. British immigration minister O’Brien said the offer was also extended to to those still living on the island or elsewhere in the Caribbean”- in the event some 3/4 of the population left, mostly for Britain.
I am a Dominican and proud of it. We should stop making ourselves look foolish by making claims that are not based on fact, simply because of a mindset that wants to portray our people as victims of prejudice and discrimination only. That kind of thinking is holding us back.

Even their Queen is fake. She is German.

The Queen is married to a German family, and her ancestor, Prince Albert of Saxe Coburg spoke German, wrote all letters of state in German and that her own nephew was a spy selling British secrets to the Germans. Her actual family come from Saxony and Bavaria – more of her ancestors are German than British.

By 1915, with the first world war almost a year old, the horrific sinking of the cruise-ship Lusitania by a German submarine – with the loss of almost 1,200 lives – a fresh wave of anti-German outrage emerged in Britain and in the USA. The consequences for Germans in Britain were grave – and so, being German, the queen’s grand-parents and great-grandparents created a fake name which they use to this day; ‘WINDSOR’.

Her close relatives control the thrones of Spain, Netherlands and her brother-in-law’s family controlled the intelligence/spy networks of the NAZI Third Reich. She is married to her own cousin.

      There you go!

Queen Elizabeth – mother born in England. Grandfather, German.
About the ‘Wndsor’ name scam. The House of Windsor is the royal house of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms. The dynasty is of German paternal descent and was originally a branch of the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, itself derived from the House of Wettin, which succeeded the House of Hanover as monarchs in the British Empire following the death of Queen Victoria, wife of Albert, Prince Consort. The houses of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and Windsor have provided five British monarchs to date, including four kings and the present queen, Elizabeth II.

The name was changed from Saxe-Coburg and Gotha to the English Windsor in 1917 because of anti-German sentiment in the British Empire during World War I.

Good point here! Skerritt did not change his name, they did. Why?? Was it to hide their German Nazi roots? Of course!!

And the hold on its former subjects continues. Let those british hooligans, and british young men go fight for thier country. We will forever remain slaves. The problem is for years the leaders of these commonwealth nations have failed to advance its people. Young poor men and women will have no choice but to continue to protect thier masters because the promise of a better life continues to be illusive for many. Today our nation begs more than ever. The pull of our ambitious young men will be strong. The criminals will remain and our society will continue to be beggars full of ignorance. I must admit slavery is alive with a different face and the same factors that cause Europe to plunder and enslave africans 300 plus years ago, still exist today. Take a look at our governments in Dominica and the region and tell me it aint so. Today it is the lure of opportunity. Tell the british they need to establish a draft. Fight thier own battles. Our leaders continue to tell the people

I can see both opportunities to change lives and for individual Dominicans and the exploitation of poorer people by a rich nation.
Slavery has moved on from the physical bondage to a more sophisticated realm in that we are in economic servitude. As long as this nation is poor and unprogressive there will always be a financial lure from richer nations to serve in their state institutions and industries be it in health, transport, the military, etc.
However, a caring and responsible government should use this exploitation by a richer nation to develop itself by sending correctly vetted people to apply for certain roles that can benefit Dominica’s long term interests. No Dominican should ever apply to be a gunner or infantryman. They should be in selection for roles that the benefits of training will give them qualifications and abilities to improve the environment and facilities on this island in areas like engineering, sub-aqua research, satellite telecommunication,…

You are being ignorant. The British Army is seeking recruits. At this moment there is no war and there does not appear to be one in the near future.
