Digicel is affording customers the opportunity to meet renowned Trinidadian calypsonian David Rudder, just one day before he is due to perform at a relief concert here.

Rudder, known popularly for his 1988 hit “Rally Round the West Indies”, arrived on island this morning for the Rally Round DA concert which is spearheaded by the Marigot Development Corporation with support from Digicel. Funds from the relief concert will go towards the rehabilitation of farm access roads in Marigot, following the passage of Tropical Storm Erika.

From 2 p.m. today, customers stepping into the DigiCentre Store on the corner of Great George and Great Marlborough Streets, will be able to interact with David Rudder as well as popular soca artiste Ricky T of St. Lucia, and others who will perform at the Rally Round DA relief concert.

In an effort to continue giving back to customers this independence season, a double top up offer is also being made available from 1 – 4 p.m. today; Digicel customers will receive double, once topping up any amount.

Digicel Dominica Sales and Marketing Manager Nathalie Walsh said Digicel is pleased to be in a position to treat its fans with great opportunities and offers. “We anticipate a great time with David Rudder, a prominent name in the world of music. Many locals associate him with his hit song, ‘Rally Round the West Indies’ and we are pleased to give them the chance to meet him and other regional artistes. We’re also very happy to be able to reward customers with double on any top up amount and urge them to take advantage of this offer.”

I recall him. There was a particular calypso (one of them) he sang which was also popular and which I enjoyed hearing. Wish I could remember it. :) I will have to hear it. He is an excellent T & T calypsonian. All his calypsos are popular ones. To those who attend, have fun.
