BUSINESS BYTE: Digicel Play adds WeatherNation to its channel line up

digicel playDigicel Play announced that it has added WeatherNation™ to its channel line-up across its Caribbean and Central America footprint, giving customers up-to-the-minute access to the latest weather conditions.

WeatherNation is a broadcast, digital-streaming and cable/satellite television network that provides reliable and current local, regional and national weather news all day, every day – including live coverage of severe and tropical weather events.

“We realise that having instant access to local weather is very important to our customers – especially since we live in a region that is prone to severe weather conditions,” said John Suranyi, Group CEO for Digcel Play, Caribbean and Central America. Suranyi continued; “So we are very happy to be partnering with WeatherNation on these great new services which will provide our customers with more in-depth local and severe weather coverage via our cable TV service or accessing the app on their mobile devices.”

Set to launch in Anguilla, Dominica, Montserrat, Nevis and the Turks and Caicos Islands as of September 1, customers can access WeatherNation on channel 514 in the News & Weather Century. In addition, customers with Android and iOS devices can also access WeatherNation via mobile app to stay up-to-date on current conditions, temperatures and extended outlooks – all in real-time.

“At WeatherNation, we have proven repeatedly that it is indeed possible to provide the most reliable and compelling weather news and information at a cost that makes sense to carriers in all formats, and we are pleased to have Digicel as our newest partners,” said Michael Norton, president of WeatherNation. “We look forward to serving their viewers who will have access to WeatherNation in the Caribbean and in Central America.”
