Under the European Union’s Special Framework of Assistance (SFA) 2004 and in collaboration with the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica, DEXIA was awarded a grant contract to implement a private sector development Programme referred to as the Business Gateway.
This Programme is aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of the private sector in Dominica, through an innovative programme of business support services.
In order to fulfill the market access aspect of the intervention, a series of workshops will be conducted to sensitize stakeholders on the key requirements of the Fresh Produce Export (Quality Control and Inspection) Act of 2009, and the National Standards for Fresh Produce.
The workshops began on Tuesday January 12 at the Cabrits Cruise Ship Berth for the Northern Agricultural Region, and continues as follows:
(1) North-East Region on Thursday January 14, 2010 at the Melville Hall Farmers Service Centre from 9:30 am.
(2) Eastern Region, on Tuesday January 19 2010, at the Castle Bruce Youth Center from 9:30 am
(3) South East Region on Thursday January 21, 2010, La Plaine Agricultural Training Center from 9:30 am.
(4) Central and Western Region on Tuesday January 26, 2010, at the Hillsborough Agricultural Station from 9:30am.
(5) Southern Region on Thursday January 28, 2010, at the Division of Agriculture Conference Room from 9:30 am.
These workshops are being facilitated by the Dominica Bureau of Standards, one of the implementing partners of the Business Gateway Programme.
