CARICOM congratulates Dominica

caricomThe Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has congratulated Dominica on its thirty-seventh Anniversary of Independence.

Dominicans celebrate on Tuesday 3 November 2015 under the theme “Rebuilding Dominica Together.”. CARICOM Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, in a congratulatory message to Prime Minister Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit said the theme was most apt, given the recent extensive devastation by Tropical Storm Erika. He said it reflects the commitment of Mr. Skerrit’s Government to work with all Dominicans in the reconstruction process.

Ambassador LaRocque noted Dominica’s continuing commitment to regional integration and keen sense of the value of the Caribbean Community. He cited as a fine example of this, the country’s decision to accept the Caribbean Court of Justice as its final appellate court.

“Honourable Prime Minister:

On behalf of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), I extend warmest congratulations to the Government and People of the Commonwealth of Dominica on the occasion of the Thirty-Seventh Anniversary of your Independence.

The theme chosen for this Anniversary, “Rebuilding Dominica Together”, is most apt given the recent extensive devastation by tropical storm Erika. It most certainly reflects the commitment of the Government under your leadership to work with all Dominicans in the reconstruction process.

Dominica’s progress through the last 37 years as an Independent nation is a result of the on-going hard work of nation building which has produced impressive advances towards the achievement of sustainable development.

Dominica’s commitment to regional integration and keen sense of the value of our Community has been demonstrated continuously, a fine example of which has been the decision to accept the Caribbean Court of Justice as its final appellate Court.

CARICOM joins the Government and People of Dominica in celebrating this Thirty-Seventh Anniversary of Independence and extends best wishes for the continued progress and sustainable development of the country.”

People of Dominica, let give thanks to God for our beautiful homeland both in Nature and in People (the majority of course)!

If only we knew how blessed we are, we would stop more often to give the honor to God–which is what He wants from us.

We are a people who go on our way from day to day, with all freedom and without fear, there are so many people, in countries around the world, who are seeking asylum in other countries, because of the lack of freedom, and the fear of living in their homeland

Life may not be a piece of cake in Dominica, but where in the world is it so? No where! For no man is ever rich enough to be satisfied in this world

What we need in Dominica is the attitude of peace and unity; we need to have respect for authorities. This does not we have to accept every plan or project of theirs; but personally, it seem to me that there is too much disrespect towards those who lead us–most of that attitude is uncalled for.

Dominica may God continue to bless you! I maintain the hope that you will rise to become one of the most comfortable homes for us–your people–and the few outsiders who may want to share you with us

O God I pray that You will continue to instill wisdom and understanding in the minds of our Leaders, as You continue to guide them throughout the works for our Nation–the Nation of Dominica. May Your will be done through them, for as long as You have decided to keep them in their positions.

God Lord I ask for Your continuous patience with my people; may they learn to accept the blessings of peace from You, the peace that keeps us in unity. Teach us Your ways O God, to continue to be the God fearing people, whom You want us to be; Lord teach us Your ways, the ways to continue to be a people “wanting all for each and each for all”

In general O God, I pray that You will bless us with Love–the very Life of You in us! I pray this in the name of Jesus
