Deacon died of aortic aneurysm – coroner

Deacon Kevin Bellot

A coroner has concluded that Dominican Deacon Kevin Bellot has died of aortic aneurysm caused by high blood pressure.

Bellot, a Roman Catholic deacon, died suddenly on June 10 in St. Lucia weeks before he was to be ordained a priest.

He was 29.

According to medical experts, an aortic aneurysm is an “abnormal bulge that occurs in the wall of the major blood vessel (aorta) that carries blood from your heart to vital organs.”

Aortic aneurysm is caused by many factors including high blood pressure which according to experts put “stress on the wall of the aorta. Over many years, this stress can lead to bulging of the blood vessel wall. This is the leading factor in development of aneurysms of the thoracic aorta.”

At the time of his death, Bellot was doing ministry at our Lady of Assumption in Vieux Fort, St. Lucia.

Sources told DNO that he complained of stomach pains on Friday, June 8, and was taken to hospital. He was reported to have been doing fine on Saturday, and even took a shower on Sunday morning hours before his death. He passed away at around 10:00 am.

In a release Fr. Olive Rodney, Vicar of Redemptorist Missionaries of the English-speaking Caribbean,  said a memorial Mass for Bellot will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Vieux Fort on Friday 15 June at 3:00pm.

The funeral Mass for Bellot will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Newtown, Dominica, on Thursday 21 June 2012, at 3:30pm.

The burial will take place, immediately following the Mass, at the Holy Redeemer Retreat House in Eggleston, Dominica.

Bellot belonged to a world-wide religious order called the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer or Redemptorists.
The order was founded by Alphonsus Ligouri in 1732 to serve the poor and the most abandoned.

He was ordained a deacon in October, 2011 and was expected to be ordained a priest on August 8, 2012.

The Lord wanted him. So the only way this could happen was to take him. And God has his good reason for doing that since his ways are not ours.

Kevin is in a better place than we are and we who are on earth must work to get there too for we know not the time nor the hour.

May his soul rest in peace and may his family accept God’s decision and be consoled that Kevin will no longer feel pain, but experience joy instead.

sad but God is in control of the time, Why does God always take the good ones? There are so many wicked people in this earth and nothing happens to these criminals but the good, honest and God fearing ones always have to go. May God have his way. This is soooooooooooooooooooooooooo sad.

I see no reason why some people are just “disliking”. There are no reasons to dislike. I guess some people are just using this as a game. …I guess they will dislike my comment too!

My sincere condolences goes out to Deacon’s Bellot Family and friends. For a brief moment in time,I was part of his family and I can attest that this young man was an upright and fun-loving spirit being. He would make anyone around him laugh and smile. His death is a reminder to myself and many of us as to the possible dangers of high blood pressure. We need to be more pro-active in our health, because Our Creator wants us to be prosperous in ALL THINGS,not just in wealth.Once again,my heart and my thoughts are with the family,Keisha,Janice,Danna,Loretta,Peter,Taisha and all the Delsol Family.I pray for Jehovah’s silky, soft comfort in your grief and his sustaining presence in the days to come and the rest of your lives without such a beautiful human example of dedication, service and family.

Kevin’s time on earth was so short, yet he had such a big impact on so many people. One of the things I will remember always about Kevin is that he loved the Lord and wanted serve him. He was indeed a pilgrim and could tarry with us for just a while.

I pray that the Lord will comfort his family and friends during this difficult time.

I will like to take this opportunity to convey my sincerest and most profound condolences to the family of the deceased. We all grew up together and he was an exemplary youngman and will be deeply missed bythe multitude who knew him . whose lives he warmly toughed with his sense of duty, great honesty, respect for the vows he took and a heart to serve with distinction the least amongst us. These attributes are sorely missing today across the board. We need persons who serve and who present themselves for service to the community to follow the example of decaonBELLOT.

MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE

    WE LOVE YOU DARLING

    SMILE TO THE ANGELS !!!!!
