What spectacular sights!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We are truly a paradise but sometimes we don’t appreciate what we have and think that life is better overseas.
There is a lot of spiritually in nature that brings healing to our bodies that we may not be aware of. These sights alone look so therapeutic, so peaceful and so natural that there is no money that can give you that peace of mind that’s needed.
Dominica is truly a peaceful paradise and we should all work to keep it that way. Yes, we need development but with that comes a price and it is usually our health that we sacrifice. We need to condsider the pollution that comes with too much development and the natural beauty that is destroyed.
Let’s continue trying to keep our lungs clear from pollution.
Peace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
da is really beautiful
People can year to visit Dominica all they want, it remains the one destination in the region where people want to visit but no one wants to come for hikers and divers alike….. why AIR ACCESS.
Trust it to be some unknown newspaper; city am? who reads that. Put us in the sun, mirror or daily mail, times, guardian or standard and that will be to our benefit as those are well known newspapers.
Be thankful for small mercies!
DNO – can yu put up picture of the Jean RHys house referred to in the article?
I have revisite Dominica many time, and i never relaised that her house is in Roseau
I think the Dominican government should make that house part of our history and a urist attraction.
If you are an avid readr, or even know somewhat of our history – you’d kno who Jean Rhys is.
we need to claim our famous Dominicans.
That article should come as no surprise…Dominica is as I put it the rock that Moses struck. The people however is another story…The young bucks today are giving the country a bad name.
Even if I was born and raised in Dominica, I have spent most of my adult Life in Toronto, Canada–that is since 1974.
I went back home in 1979–just after four years of living away from there, Dominica did not seem any different to me, at that time–especially that was right after hurricane David.
But after 1979, it took me 30 more years to return to Dominica–that was in 2008. I spent six weeks their, enjoying Life with my family and friends at Giraudel–but simple as it was, I cannot describe the ecstasy of peace and joy that lived in me for that six weeks that I spent in Dominica, my beautiful homeland, in 2008.
To tell you the truth, I felt depressed when I returned to Toronto–rich as Canada and its cities are, there is nothing here that I would exchange for my place in our Dominica.
There was day when I received the conviction that God lived on our mountains in Dominica; and it came to my mind, a question that made me ask, could it be that God is preparing our Dominica to be His head place of Paradise–for Dominica did seem to be looking a lot like the Garden of Eden ro me.
Of course I have never seen that Garden, but “faith is the substance of things hope for and the evidence of things not seen”. My hope is to be living in Paradise one of those days–I am sure that God has showed me what Paradise looks like through my faith.
It was not a coincident for me, when I was searching a book shelf at Astaphans Shopping Center, that I found a book written by Lennox Honychurch and someone else, the book was entitled “In search of the “lost Eden”–a History of Dominica.
There is a saying that goes like this “you never miss the water until the well run dry” That is the problem with us in Dominica. We don’t see her beauty, we don’t see the love of her people, we don’t appreciate anything good about our homeland, because we have too much that is beautiful and natural, our minds are all clogged up with the needs for money and other material wealth.
However, let us remember that we ain’t taking none of those material things with us, if we plan to live in Paradise.
I could not say it better myself. i hold the same sentiments. For those who don’t unbderstand why I come home every year, I tell them to visit Dominica in the eyes of a tourist. You would be sooo amazed at her beauty. Merci Bon Dieu…..there is nothing more beautiful an earth than our nature island, Dominica and its people.
Do I hear an amen?
@Scorpio
I am saying Amen! And Amen again!
I would also give you 10 thumbs up, because you have the sentiment of my heart pertaining to our Dominica–sorry that I can only give you one.
I will now die in Toronto. God has promised me it is not my destiny to do so. I am going back home to our Dominica, for good; I just need five more years to pile up and pack up–and to leave my only son here, to his responsibilities of Life in his country, not mine. And Dominica, there I come!
It is a good article! We need more exposure with well known media advertising us in the UK and around the world. Dominica is the Jewel of the Caribbean! Amazing island, great people, Dominica has her own charm!
Well, if it was the Times or the Telegraph I think we could be excited! LOL
How can anyone read this article, and not yearn to visit Dominica ?
hehehehe…well a lot of potential tourists will never go to Dominica for obvious reasons. they want comfort and attractions..the things Dominica cannot offer but Barbados, Dominica Republic, Cuba etc etc etc can offer…c’mon do you seriously believe that people are going to pay thousands and thousands of use, cross atlantic ocean to see Dominica…naive thinking
Yep! The things we take for granted others really enjoy.
I read the full article and I must say it’s very interesting!!
