The new Chinese Ambassador accredited to Dominica, Mr. Li Jiangning presented his letter of credence to President Charles Savarin on Wednesday morning.

At the ceremony held at the President’s Office to present the credentials, President Savarin congratulated Ambassador Jiangning on the commencement of his term.

President Savarin expressed hope that the close bilateral relations that exist between the two countries would be further enhanced during the tenure of the new Chinese Ambassador.

Highlighting that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Dominica and China, President Savarin underscored the high priority accorded by Dominica to strengthening ties with China.

President Savarin also took the opportunity to highlight some of the areas where Dominica has benefitted from its relations with China.

“Your Excellency, since the establishment of diplomatic relations in March 2004, Dominica has benefited and continues to benefit significantly through fruitful bilateral exchanges and cooperation in infrastructural development, education, health, agriculture, trade and other areas,” he noted.

“A number of technical and economic cooperation projects funded by the Government of the People’s Republic of China through grant funding and soft loans are underway in Dominica,” he said.

President Savarin expressed Dominica’s interest in exploring new markets in China and to provide a valuable source of tourism revenue through the recognition of Dominica as an “Approved Destination”.

Meanwhile Ambassador Jiangning said he is committed in his capacity to take the relations between Dominica and China to new heights.

“I am greatly honoured to be appointed the Chinese Ambassador to the Commonwealth of Dominica. During my tenure of office, I will use my efforts to further develop the friendly relations and cooperation between our two countries and the friendship between our two peoples. I firmly believe that as I embark on this important mission I will receive the support from you your Excellency and your government,” the new Chinese Ambassador said.

Continuing in this regard, the new Chinese Ambassador emphasized the progress made by Dominica in economic and social development.

He further said that China appreciates the positive stance taken by Dominica to respect the one china policy.

“Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2004, our two countries have enjoyed frequent high level exchanges, ever increasing political trust, fruitful cooperation in business, culture, health agriculture and other fields, as well as mutual support and close cooperation in international affairs. China highly appreciates Dominica’s firm commitment to the one china policy and stands ready to work with you in taking our relations to a higher level.”

The new Chinese Ambassador replaces Ambassador Wang Zonglai whose stint ended in December last year.

Mr. Li has been in Dominica for approximately two weeks, the man knows so much about us that he is able to tell us how good we are going as regards to our economic achievements. Is it a coincident that just about the same time Mr. Linton and the A team have Skeritt running scared, all kind of man are coming out of the wood works. Don’t be surprised, a few weeks from now Dominicans are going to hear from the Cubans, the Moroccans, the Venezuelans and even Gonzales.

I see trash and hear trash talk. “Dominica respect the one China Policy.” I wonder what’s their Policy besides control! Savrin said that “Dominica received grant funding and SOFT LOANS” from China. What is “soft loans? it’s a little harder than the grants? The Ambassador asked for support from Savrin and Skerritt’s Government. Not from the people of Dominica. China is placing anchors in Dominica which will be impossible to lift. Take all you “soft loans” and put some in all you deep pockets. Voleh….

Who is Dominica’s Ambassador to China? Is it David Hsui? Wasn’t he relieved of such post because of his activities? You already know about the famous Layou River saga. Ensuing BVI case with PM as witness. Drama. Haylay Hooray!!!!!! Poor Dominicans chanting, “We win case against David Hsui.”

Talk of millions of $$$$$$$ in those deals, passport sales but no Hotel in Layou. US$20 million, too? WOW!!!!!! Plenty more than that? Is that same David Hsui, still our Ambassador/special Envoy to China?

Foreign Relation Yes. Foreign domination, NO. US $300 million signed? China express concern? China has spoken of its fight against corruption.

China DA need help to do the same. Our sovereignty is at stake. DA for sale. OR sold already!! Secret deals… No info to the people. Sold to the highest bidders. For how much? Oh BALA!!!!!

Construction jobs that locals could do are awarded to the Chinese Co., while unemployment rising. State Palace. State College. Newtown school to be built. Hotel in PWC area. Children’s playground, next to a highway. Floor tiles for children to fall on. Who is in control? Plain to see.

This is a true sentiment of a beggar who knows how to sing and dance to the tune. To get from China we have to chant the “One China policy” and to beg Skerrit locally we have to chant the “Thank God for Skerrit tune.” I don’t what you mean by the tremendous benefits both countries enjoy. It is simply one sided. China has used Dominica to pay loans that ONLY benefit Chinese. How many Dominicans were employed on the so called EO Leblanc highway that is already deteriorating in some areas? The answer is, The one China only? How many on Windsor Park? The one China. How many on the Skerrit Palace? The one China only? How many jobs have the “One China taken from us Dominicans? Well, errection bus stops, the new public works, fisheries etc. So you are right about your ‘One China’ song and dance, but sadly you did not add one China at the expense of beautiful Dominica.

DNO, it is sad that your portal has become a hate- filled website. Why someone would make this negative dislike on this plain post is beyond me.

I guess the UWP is doing a good job in turning these people into hate mongers

@ as i see it. Get a life and shut the …….up! are you Dominican? I don’t think so. You Ching Chong. China will never succeed in Dominica. But it’s beyond me, how one man (Skerritt) is allowed to sell the whole blasted Country with all 80,000 Dominicans sitting idly by like Dogs with no teeth.
