UPDATE: Efforts ongoing to return Dominican crew

The management of KC Shipping is working vigorously to resolve a matter where a local crew’s vessel was towed into Venezuela after experiencing some difficulties at sea.

A source close to the situation told Dominica News Online that the destination of the vessel was not Venezuela. The Dominican crew were headed to St. Vincent from Trinidad when the boat developed engine problems resulting in a private tug company transporting the vessel into Venezuela.

The source dismissed allegations that the men are being held against their will, and stated that they are not in custody. However, there are a lot of restrictions and the crew is experiencing certain difficulties, among getting fuel for the boat.

“It’s an unfortunate situation … there were some situations that happened with the towing that could have been handled better, I do not want to go into details,” the source stated.

The Venezuela ambassador has been contacted on the matter, according to the source.

“It’s unfair to say that they’re being retained. No matter where you go especially in these third world countries there’s no clear definition on how business is to be conducted. They’re experiencing hardships; There are restrictions. .. if you go to the US they are restrictions.

“It’s not a comfortable situation for them; they’re not in their comfort zone… everything is protocol … the source added

Isn’t Venezuela our supposed “God Father”? It’s amazing to know the level of diplomacy involved in this!
If my memory served me right; didn’t the Government of Dominica release some Venezuelans detained by the coast guard recently along with their millions?!
That’s the “Next Level” we Dominicans voted for!! SHAME!

once again we are not dealing with the issues. i think it would be the same if it was the other way around. the responsibility is KC Shipping. They are supposed to see to it that this problem is resolved and if necessary ask for diplomatic assistance.

what i heard on radio and what i read above is like chalk and cheese. once again we have proven ourselves.

Can anyone tell me what is the monthly salary of the Venezuelan ambassador? I have only read that he has been contacted, but what is he doing? We are talking about our own nationals who were towed to another country against their will, and we are not hearing any public pronouncements yet from the ambassador or the PM who refers to Chavez as comrade?Do we have pirates in this part of the world? I am only asking? Will a ransom be paid for the release of the crew? I am just asking?
Any information about the cargo on board? Has it been tampered with? By whom?
This is serious, and we need to hear from those who are paid huge pay packets to deal with matters of such importance!!!!! PM ACT PLEASE!!!!!!Aaron act please!!!!!

Actually Venezuela is very corrupt and u can pay your way out of anything.
I the guadia nationals do not take you money and still kill you.
In case of court they are not fair. Careful. In Dominica we got laws and
we follow them. Venezuela got laws which just stays in books.

    We’ll well well.
Has Dominica signed the treaty of the seas?

    Venezuela has refused to.
This international treaty allows only 12 knotical miles of territorial sea around bird island.
Venezuela is claiming 200 miles of territorial sea from bird island or equal distance between bird island and any other country within 200 miles of bird island.
Could DNO be so kind as to link to maps or publish one of the maps showing venezuela’s claim?

Venezuela is claiming most of the caribbean sea because of bird island.
To defend their claim they have recently bought $ 4 billion us in arms from russia and have got another $2 billion line of credit for more arms.

Just as in trinidad fishermen are constantly harassed, siezed, shot at and disappear so to are us Dominican fishermen except we are being dealt blows by the french and Venezuelans. .

This is but one more in the long list of consequences of having an unpatriotic PM

France has fought over 10 wars against our ancestors (Kalinago and Negre Maron), broken every treaty to get control of our resources. but has now won by having a french national as the PM of Dominica.
Venezuela offered to join OECS but were rejected so we are now one more added to the list of the many nations that they are challenging. ( Dutch, USA, british, T & T, Guyana, Columbia, Barbados other OECS)

These are some of the issues that the populace were banned from being allowed to hear or read about before the elections by cyber attacks on DNO, the Chronicle’s email, many other emails (including mine), blocking access to DBS, scrambling the signal of q95 etc.

Since the election we see the drastic increase in the Brazen attacks on our sovereign, our immigration and other laws to facilitate the infrastructure needed for population change. .
“If any of these chinese get hurt Dominica will be in trouble”
“Not even the constitution can stop…”

how many soldiers will it take to take over. Dominica?

Where is Baby doc of Haiti?

I guess they are just fishermen lost at sea … It happens all the time ..esp with the trouble these gps systems give
