The flag of Dominica is featuring prominently on the promotional image of the Catholic Church’s World Youth Day, which begins in Krakow, Poland today, July 25, 2016.
The flag of the island is at the front of the image with other flags from around the world on other parts.
World Youth Day will continue until July 31. It is celebrated every three years in a different country.
Last time it took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
WYD is aimed to gather Christian youth, get together and deepen their faith.
During the week of World Youth Day, there will be prayers and the sacraments, events with Pope Francis and cultural events.
There are not representatives from Dominica at the event, but young people from islands such as St. Lucia and Trinidad are attending.
Krakow, the birth place of Saint Pope John Paul II who commenced World Youth Day. He will be looking on this holy event and praying for those in attendance and those in Dominica who were unable to attend. We call him Saint Pope John Paul The Great – not yet officially called “Great”. We have a few Popes who are called “Great” as Pope St. Gregory The Great.
Incidentally, Pope St. Gregory The Great stated – I read it in a prayer book: “If you like the good that you see in others, you make it your own.” This is an excellent and motivating saying. There are many more and also of the Popes, past and of Pope Francis and of the saints.
I wondered if Dominica would be represented in Krakow. So sorry Dominican youths will not be attending but as someone commented Fr. Elton Letang will be present. I will settle for viewing it on TV/Internet and listening via US Catholic Radio.
May all who attend have an enjoyable, spiritual time. God bless you all and protect you.
Hahah that’s great!
Dominica may not have a delegation in Poland but rest assured that Dominica’s Fr. Elton Letang, parish priest of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Barataria, Trinidad & Tobago is in attendance.
Congratulation to you Ms.Dominica. you made us very proud last night and I was one of them who supported you in Antigua last night. Dominica All the Way!!!??

Is you that design that promotional image, man? Lol

Happy and proud Dominica’s flag is prominent on stage. See, Dominica was not forgotten. God is good!
Hope next timesSome Dominicans will be able to attend. I realize it was not possible this year.
