Dominica Electricity Services Ltd. (DOMLEC) and Courts Dominica have again come on board as sponsors for the World Creole Music Festival(WCMF).

On Wednesday morning, DOMLEC’s Public Relations Officer, Adina Bellot Valentine, presented a $10,000 cheque to Dominica Festivals Committee (DFC) Events Director, Nathalie Clarke. Valentine said that the company would also be sponsoring free electricity for the event.

“We are happy as a corporate entity that we are able to give back to the community and we have done it over the years by providing free electricity or free electricity and cash to the Festival Committee. We give back not only because it is part of our corporate mandate but we believe it is the right thing to do if we are to continue to promote the island’s culture and its heritage.”

DOMLEC also presented a cheque for $5000 to the National Cultural Council for the celebration of Independence festivities.

Meantime, artists performing at the Festival this year, should experience a greater level of comfort because of a decision by Courts Dominica to furnish the artists Green Room at the WCMF venue to the tune of $15,000.

Courts representative, Shernelle Anthony, made the announcement at the DFC’s weekly news conference on Wednesday.

“For the World Creole Music event we will be giving $15,000 in kind to furnish the artist green room. So that green room will be furnished with a lounge suite, a 40’’ Plasma television, a refrigerator, a microwave as well as an electronic kettle. We take our social responsibility very seriously we are committed to helping our country and that’s truly bringing value home.”

She said the company is also making a contribution of $5,000 towards the Friday Dwivay fringe events carded to begin on September 27th.

The Kubuli Big Truck is also expected to be present at the Last Flight bar in Marigot where the WCMF ticket train will conduct promotions.
