Dual citizenship trial suspended as Tropical Storm Maria approaches

Young (left) and Mendes outside court earlier this week

The dual citizenship trial involving Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and Education Minister Petter St. Jean has been suspended until Tuesday as Tropical Storm Maria approaches Dominica.

Trinidadian lawyer Stuart Young and Douglas Mendes asked the court for a suspension on the grounds that their weekend travel might be affected by the storm.

Young and Mendes are representing the United Workers Party (UWP) which is challenging the results of the 2009 election of Skerrit and St. Jean on the grounds that they were dual citizens at that time.

When the trial resumes on Tuesday former attorney general David Bruney is expected to take the witness stand.

On Wednesday Justice Gertel Thom ruled Skerrit and St. Jean would not be required to give evidence in the trial.

Maria is expected to pass near Dominica in the early hours of Saturday morning.

I don’t want to become repetitive nor do I want to get into a battle of words with anyone but this but with a statement like yours simply confirms the level of ignorance I am talking about because for you to make reference in relation to Dominica and America is just beyond ignorance. Just three questions 1) What is the population of America? 2) what is the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of America 3)What position is America in the top five of the economical giants. Please I will appreciate a respond.

This is a reply to most of the comments which is suggesting that it is a Ron Green and Edison James case. I would like you people to examin the reason or behind the case, but then again you was too busy to jump on Ron and Edison that you have not taken time to examin the case. However it is not in spite of what you might think this is a case against the Constitution of Dominica and against the rule of law in relation to the electorial commission. I was once said that Dominicans wear their ignorance as a badge of honour but I would go further to say that you guys are romanced in ignorance and God help us. Let us continue to feed this monster and when it its fully grown and its appetite have increased from eating a whole chicken to eating humans I really hope that you would be the first inline to offer up as food for the lovely monster you have created. May God have mercy on us. Wake up people it may not be you but I can certainly guarantee you that it would be your children and your children’s children that will be the food for the growing monster if we dont come together and slaughter this rapidly growing montser.
